“Following consultation with members of the County Council, a pathway forward for the nomination of Division Chief Charles Bailey as Chief of the Montgomery Fire and Rescue Services was not deemed feasible. He appreciates Division Chief Bailey’s decades of service to the residents of Montgomery County and continued commitment to MCFRS. Moving forward, the County Executive is currently evaluating alternative candidates to nominate as MCFRS Chief. We will provide notice to the public when a nomination letter for this position is submitted to the County Council.”

****Yea. After what happened with the MoCo School superintendent and several other exec level positions that have cost the county *millions* of dollars for remarkably poor performance and finding really really bad skeletons in their closets only after they were pointed out once hired due to clearly not being properly vetted - I am almost positive they are doing extensive and very careful background checks and have probably found something in Mr. Bailey's background that may have had bad optics so they gave him a chance to come clean and move on before hiring him. It might have been recent stuff, or things that happened long ago. People at that level, regardless of how long at a firm or organization are being re-checked.

There have been cases where people were found to have *massive* undisclosed debts, a girlfriend on the side, porn addiction, in MoCo perhaps being found out to be Republican or Conservative, sexual harassment, plagiarized thesis, fake credentials, no credentials, dirty credenza's or whatever.

This is actually a good thing and should have been done from the get go. Look at the shit storm Harvard, and other elite schools are going through now with several very high profile people being busted for plagiarism, etc...

It happens at the local level, and it is possible Mr. Bailey was found or admitted to something that could bring ill repute to the organization he was slated to run. Plenty of employment contracts are I bet being modified due to this to get out of having to pay a crappy executive in perpetuity or pay them off to go away for something they knowingly didn't admit to, or just doing stupid stuff while in office.

Good. Let the best people rise to the top, and those chosen for other reasons not having an advantage due to immutable characteristics like having a superfluous pappila like Scaramanga did.

Yup, there should be no one in any executive or “C” suite position with even a smidgen of negative background information on their records because we all know the civil and criminal justice system in this country is ALWAYS right.

If they want to enforce that level of quality, start with elected officials

That's a shame. I've known Chief Bailey for many years. I don't work in fire/rescue, but I've always known the Chief to be a great guy, hard worker, and morally sound. It's a shame that it didn't work out for him.

There was a recent report about a senior fire/rescue guy having some ethical issues. Hope it's not Bailey.

I agree. Nobody is perfect, and now they'll likely go outside and the guys who have spent their whole careers here get screwed.

I'd rather have someone on the inside get the position.

With the incessant corruption our politicians enjoy, I hate to see this.

Police chief leaving soon too I think. Moco sucks.

    Getting closer....

When asked whether Bailey was connected to a Montgomery County Office of Inspector General (OIG) memorandum released Friday that revealed that a senior MCFRS employee engaged in misconduct, Elrich said he couldn’t comment on personnel matters.

According to the memorandum, a senior MCFRS employee engaged in misconduct in 2019 and 2021, violating the Code of Conduct. The identity of the employee is unknown.

Oh, it's known. They just ain't telling you!

There is absolutely nothing like transparency in government is there? :lol2:

    Ayup.

I‘ve know Charles for over 30 years, back to our volley days. His best radio return from a house fire was “on the scene with fire in the sky!” I always thought he was a good guy, but he had his quirks. The Union definitely had a hand in making sure his appointment didn’t come to fruition. I hope he lands on his feet somewhere.

100%. He rose up through the ranks. I've known people who have worked with him throughout his career. They all said he was a good firefighter and a good administrator. Bummer that he didn't survive the process, hope that whatever this ethical quandary is doesn't kill his career.

This is sh*tshow called MoCo we’re talking about here, people!

Am I the only one that realizes THE REAL REASON Bailey didn’t get the job?

    - because he isn’t a neon pink-haired, shaved eyebrows, cross-dressing trannie!

Again, this is sh*tshow called MoCo we’re talking about …

They are a trip. On my background the investigator was real honest and said I had no chance, didn't even take notes. Then I mentioned the name of an Ex GF that sounded like a dude's name. BuddyBoy, thinking I liked dudes, straightened right up and started taking notes. I was tempted to roll with it for a second, lol.

I think you just nailed why he wouldnt fit in as a leader in MOCO. Not corrupt enough. He needs to work on his pronouns as well.
