"It is irrational. It is nuts, and it's fueled by really ignorant people," Elrich said last month following an incident at Walt Whitman High School. Someone wrote a hateful message on a school sign, sparking fear and outrage from many students.

"We have a real problem with antisemitism, racism and xenophobia in general," one student said following the incident.

This month saw swastikas drawn on desks and school property at three Montgomery County schools, including Tilden Middle School. The antisemitic incident led to leaders inviting Holocaust survivor Josie Traum to speak with students.

MOCO, that bastion of MAGA and hate must change!

They hate law abiding gun people, hopefully some of that money will cure them.
One would think reasonably trained and motivated citizens at soft targets like churches, community centers and parking lots would be a good thing.

But it would never be enough to stop the REAL hate crimes like messages on a school sign or swastkkers on desks.

Outlawing of free speech, disarming the populace, forced medical experimentation, socialism, government control of private enterprise, repression of alternative opinions by roaming groups of thugs, yeah, sounds a lot like NAZIs.

yeah maybe spend NO money and let law-abiding citizens be armed in places that might be subject to hate crimes (and everywhere else of course...)

i'm not anywhere near being a protected class, but cmon, some dumass draws a swastica on a wall or desk to get a rise out of folks and we have to spend $$$ to re-educate everyone, with the implication that wasps are mean and evil.

i hate (pun) the whole hate crime concept. if my family member was to be stomped in having their car stolen, the penalty/sentence should be no less than for someone else that was stomped because of their color or religion etc. ALL violent crime should be met with very harsh sentences.

Pandering to the Special Classes is essential to continue the Divide and Conquer plan that's been in effect for decades.

I'm certain that it galls the politicians to have to step up for the Jews, and admit that they have status as part of the Select Hated Ones. There was an interesting article in Commentary last year about this; the author felt that the Holocaust gave an unfair advantage, lionizing the Jews because of the horrific extent of their persecution. So it's like OK to hate them, because they stole everyone else's thunder.

On the other side of the ledger, most of American Jewry seems content to roll over and pretend the Holocaust was just a bad dream, and impossible to repeat, and has no relationship with anything going on today.

"Hate Crime" is a bad idea that is difficult to challenge. The true problem resides in who gets to specify the special groups that are subjected to criminal hatred, and how and why these groups are selected.

Merely more Social Poison to sicken the Body Politic.

People do these things for one of two reasons:

    1) To be shocking. So if they spend a bunch more money and time on sensitivity training and whatnot to even further remind everyone that such things are shockingly beyond the pale, the people who do it to be shocking will still do it, or do even more of it.

    Or:

    2) Lazy false flag, done because of continuing national shortage of actual Nazis to go with the narrative that they are everywhere all the time and the greatest threat 2 Hour Duhmokcrasies, OK? See (1), above, for why spending $800 to stop it will likely result in more of it.

How is spending $800K going to prevent some bored shithead from carving a swastiki in a desk at school?
There's no doubt that this has much to do with posturing and pandering.

But let's not forget to follow the money. Diversity, Equity and Inclusion training is big business. Everyone *needs* the training and of course the annual refresher. There's a buck to be made here and it's a great way to give purpose to otherwise useless college degrees. At the very least I imagine there's some indirect lobbying involved.

People have a right to hate...Democrats though...do it to the point they're abusing that right. Just the idea of a hate crime has gotten to the point of "thought crimes".

    Winston Smith weeps.
