The Gilbert Range ammo prices are not that bad:
    Ammo Pricing for Annual Members
    9MM FMJ 50 Rounds $16.95
    40 S&W 50 Rounds $27.95
    45 ACP 50 Rounds $27.95
    38 SPL 50 Rounds $29.95

Prices Subject to Change Without Notice

Yea went there with a 357 magnum , 357 was like $26 and 38 spl $23/$24 want bad in my opinion. But again new to this soo I didn’t have luxury of the tale of pre covid prices

    Jeff,

I have told my story b4. I did what I had legally and normally done all my adult life. Buy handgun at an FFL or an auction and have shipped to FFL. On my New Year's day purchase at the Auction in Pa. I did all I needed to except pay for FFL work and pick it up. HOWEVER, I learned MD passed a BS HQL law, and now my reasonably priced piece was going to cost at least $100 more plus BS fingerprinting, a not disapproved and the HQL card.

Needless to say, when I REALLY get pissed off, I stay PISSED off. Usually for a lifetime. F Joe Brandon F Md BS Gun laws

Gilbert has gotten some negative reviews but I found them to be accommodating. Fiocci is their brand of choice and not unreasonably priced.

Also got 30 day range time for HQL/UT.

One of the two indoor ranges is being rebuilt yet I still found availability early Saturday afternoon.

I'm sure it will improve when remodeling is complete.

    Welcome JeffG2.0!

I'm also living under the velvet gloved iron fist of MOCO.

    Goggle IWLA WAC
I am also a member there.

Do they have "Open to the public" days? My wife has been to some sponsored events there and we would like to look into membership in the Fall.

It's a haul, but the air seems easier to breath up there. Like the Eastern Shore only without the chicken chit!

Other than special events(Archery workshops, NRA firearms classes, etc), there are no "Open to the public" days.
When you're ready to join, everything you need to know can be found on here...

Also, if this is too far to drive, maybe search for a closer IWLA.

So I went i after a couple of times I got a membership,
Yea they’re remodeling but besides when they are busy, late noonish you might have a bit of a wait from my experience.
But with membership it’s 10am-12pm members only sat/sun.
I like them, there are better ranges but being 5min down the road and relatively competing ammo price with membership I like it

Hey everyone, names Jeff. New and recent gun owner. Always thought keep distance from firearms is a means of safety. But overtime I realized it was lack of knowledge and fud where I had an unconscious negative stigma. Excited to keep learning and having a means of defense, exercise my rights. And look to remove that negative stigma at least in my immediate circle. Thanks for the join and reading some of the other introductions I see there like a inside joke about a certain Jeff G and that’s literally my first name and initial so I was a bit baffled and confused seeing what is my name. Haha, Jeff g 2.0 no paranoia here. Well within reason, shooters>hooters

Welcome from a former Rockville refugee. I used to live about 5 minutes from Gilberts. You might want to check out the Damascus chapter of the Issak Walton League that Outrider suggested earlier. It is a very nice range and is close to the Hipsley's Mill WMA that is a very nice place to hunt.

Thank you looking to explore ranges. I have Gilbert’s down the road from me. Going to try others soon
There are three Izaak Walton ranges in MoCo. Bethesda Chevy Chase (in Poolesville) used to be the best for shotgunners and 3D archery. Damascus (in Damascus) was the best for airguns, pistols, and rifles. Rockville (in Germantown) is the closest.
