Has anyone installed a Meprolight front sight on a shotgun?

I am working on a Mossberg 590. 5-40 threads. Possible #4 washer size

The problem is that the sight is a blade type and the threads do not tighten down with the sight lined up straight. I need a shim. I have tried to use No. 4 brass washers but they are not the correct thickness. I could file them, I suppose, with a ton of work. I was hoping for something a little more "turn key".

I have read about people using No. 60 rubber o-rings. It seems to me the heat might be an issue. The o-rings are heat resistant to 248 F. I would think the rubber would break down over time.

Others have suggested making shims from soda cans. Again, a lot of work.

I am willing to do the work if that is the only way. Hoping for something else.

Has anyone done this or have any ideas?
