Anyone know of a local shop that sells MEC shotshell loaders and also carries replacement parts, ie. Shot/powder bottles, bushings, spent primer trays, mounting hardware, etc.

I would like to support a local business and also keep from getting a$$ raped by Bass Pro shop. Worst case scenario I will order online or wait until my next trip to Shyda's.

    Thanks guys.

Was going to say Shyda's but I see that you already know about their stock. Last time I was there the replacement parts availability was deep

Bart's in Glen Burnie used to have reloading stuff. I haven't been there in some time so I don't know if he still does.

If you have to go on line, try Midsouth shooters supply. They have good prices and better shipping costs than Midway.

Very slim pickings at Barts these days.

Thanks guys. Green Top isn't really all that local to me, Bart's would likey rape me worse than Bass Pro. Last time I went to Barts he wanted $12 for 500 claybuster wads. I think they are up to like $8 at Shyda's. Only problem with Shyda's is that it is a 2+ hour drive.

I guess I will either wait it out order online. Thanks again.

FWIW, I usually plan for two trips a year up to Shyda's. We make it a family affair and go on a train ride in Lancaster, eat some good Pennsylvania Dutch cooking and shop. This makes the 2.5 hour trip worth while and I come home with a car full of goodies. :D

Did I mention that Shyda's has NO powder. I called last Friday to check. The man answering the phone said they were not sure if they would get any more in 2013. Very hard to believe.

When I need parts, I just go right to the source. Mayville Engineering Company (MEC)

    http://www.mecinc.com/our-company/mec-shooting-sports

You can find just about anything you need including any springs pins or whatever

Frankly many places aren't appreciably cheaper and they often don't have anything except maybe charge bars and bushings or maybe bottles. One thing Mayville Engineering doesn't have, however, is the universal charge bar...one bar that allows adjustment for shot or powder. Some like 'em...but others don't. You can buy regular charge bars and bushing...just like any other MEC part

Universal charge bar can be found here: http://www.midwayusa.com/Product/24...rogressive-shotshell-loaders-650-grabber-9000

    or here: http://www.ballisticproducts.com/Un...le-stage-w_Powder-Baffle/productinfo/2100001/

Trying to protect your supply? :D

I find that VERY hard to believe.

I too found it so difficult to believe that I called back again. Unfortunately, I spoke to the same guy and he told me the same thing. I did make some calls around and found a few jugs at Richlands which is about 15 - 20 minutes past shydas. I jumped in the car, drove 2 1/2 hours and made it to their shop 10 minutes before closing on Friday night. I had planned to pick up as much as I could for me and a few friends back here in MD. Unfortunately, they would only sell one bottle per customer/group. That's right, even if I had another person with me, they would only sell one bottle to us.

So, 5 hours of driving and I have one bottle of powder that will probably last me until Thanksgiving. I wish I would have known at the time that I needed a shot bottle and a spent primer tray for a MEC 9000G that I am preparing to sell. I am not driving all the way up there, so it looks like I will be mail ordering those.

I am going to try calling Ben at Alliant today to find out what exactly it is that is going on. I have a feeling he is going to say that they stopped producing shotgun powder in order to supply the ammo manufacturers.

My wife picked up two 1 lb cans of Red Dot for me, a short while ago.

One of the LGS near here had Red Dot, a couple of weeks ago, if memory serves me.

I was actually surprised that she remembered the Red Dot. But then again, our youngest son was with her.

I haven't bought shot in years. I've got a couple of .50 caliber ammo cans full of #7-1/2 or #8, and I bought a MEC 9000G from a guy that works at my company a short while ago (he practically gave it away!), and he included two metal coffee cans, full of #8 shot, some bottles and some bushings.

I've got some #5 and #6 set aside, and I still have some #2 copperplate from 'the old days', somewhere in my shop.

Having about 3,000 wads makes life easy, too.:D
