I perused many an interwebs foto and indeed it's a horse. Thanks HAs screwy as weather patterns were this fall, I wouldn't rule it out. We've seen things this season that "shouldn't be here" as well.
Hard to get a size from the pic, but WETA could fit the bill, in the extreme. That said, the lack of white on the wing says it's more likely a transitional Scarlet Tanager.
