EDIT: fact checking this chart below.

There's always questions on this (hell, I still have them), so I thought we could use a simple chart to help answer questions for noobs and old farts alike. I found this chart, and it seems to be accurate. If there is a more accurate one, please post it and let's maybe make it a sticky.

Here's the law, according to this chart:

Anything pre 10/2013 would be grandfathered in. Anything missing?

Folding stock as defined in the law is not the same as the collapsible stock shown in the graphic. Folders are like the M1A1 Carbine paratrooper stock, not a sliding, adjustable AR stock.

Alright, this is why we're having this conversation. Good info.

The collapsible stock and 29" OAL always confused me though. Does it have to be >29" with the stock collapsed?

Grenade launcher doesn’t just mean an underbarrel unit. The ability to launch rifle grenades counts, like if you put a grenade retaining ring behind the flash hider on an A2 or M4 barreled AR or had a G3/HK33 barrel with the retaining ring.

Good thing my M1 Garands don't have detachable magazines. :D

Not a “snipe,” Dave but, I couldn’t help thinking the following, rec’d from J. Farnam earlier today, helps as far as real “accuracy:”

    How eloquent!

    From: John Farnam

    Disenchanted Ears!

    2 Mar 22

Last night, in his State of the Union Speech, JRB predictably called, once more, for a ban on (as yet undefined) “assault weapons” and (as yet undefined) “high-capacity magazines.”

With his Marxist agenda stalled in Congress, such a plea was of course designed mostly to mollify JRB’s socialist voting-base, cynically preparing them for inevitable disappointment. They are unhappy with his stark reversal on de-funding police, along with his non-performance on a host of other issues among the left’s favorite fantasies.

But, in view of the current Russian military invasion of Ukraine, yet another leftist lie has been exposed!

As an excuse for promoting bans on private ownership of military-style guns, leftists have always egotistically insisted that such guns are useless for personal defense, and equally useless for national defense against an invading army.

How arrogantly wrong they have been shown to be!

We observe now, in real time, just how effective Ukrainian civilians are in defending their homeland, using these same supposedly “useless” weapons!

In the hands of patriots, they are extremely effective, as we see!

Of course, most smug leftists have never worn their Country’s uniform, have never fired a shot in anger, couldn’t fight their way out of a paper bag, and couldn’t distinguish an “assault weapon” from a waffle iron, much less operate either!

In time of crisis, every conceited leftist, who always wanted to take-away our guns, will be sheepishly begging you for one of yours (even though he wouldn’t have the foggiest idea what to do with it, and would likely end-up shooting his own foot)!

In light of the Ukrainian invasion, JRB’s despicable plea is thus falling on disenchanted ears!

    I don’t need ‘a ride’ I need ammunition!

^^^President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy,^^^ responding to JRB’s offer to get him out of Ukraine (which he declined, preferring to lead from the front)

I’ve never understood if the state would have a problem with a flash hider as well as a suppressor on an SBR?

Last SBR I had came through short. So I had to send before and after pictures to the ATF. Flash suppressor had to be off for those and he was going to put a barrel adapter on anyway. You would need a second no no to go with the flash suppressor to be a problem. I did have a folding stock , flash suppressor gun come through and simply removed the flash suppressor and all was good. Took pictures and placed inside 4473.

Tell your neighbor we put up with it for two reasons

    1) democrats here have had control of the Maryland government for way too long.

    2) it's against the law to hunt politicians.

Nice graphic. Thanks for posting. I live in Tennessee now and showed it to my neighbor, who happens to own a gun shop here. He looked at it carefully, shook his head, and said “Why do they put up with that shit?” As a 32-year MD resident I just said, “It happens a little at a time.”

    God bless you all.

I think the operative answer would be that we are outnumbered in this state.

Ask them what Tennessee would look like if 60% of the voting population lived in Memphis .
