    Just in time for June!

“On March 22nd of this year, the school board announced that yes, it would allow opt outs as it always has in the past. On March 23rd, it issued an email doing a complete about face, saying that no more notice will be given to parents and no opt outs will be tolerated. And, we’re not even talking about the normal sex ed topics — biology, the reproductive system. We’re talking about social issues … encouraging children to (transition), to adopt their own pronouns,” said Eric Baxter, vice president and senior counsel, Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, representing the families in the federal lawsuit.

And POOF! Like CRT is not "CRT" human sexuality is now "literacy standards!"

"Under Maryland law, families can opt their students only out of specific classes on human growth and sexuality. Parents don’t have the right to opt out of other classes, explained Niki Hazel, association superintendent.

MCPS chose six picture books involving LGBTQ+ that will be included in the literacy classes for elementary school children, she said. These classes are designed to teach literacy standards while making every student feel included, she said, adding these picture books are not textbooks but are supplements to the lesson.

“Our goal is to have our students in all of our classes, but we are starting specifically in elementary with our lliteracy curriculum, earning about literacy standards,” Hazel said. “We want all our students to see themselves in these texts.”

Superintendent Monifa McKnight stressed that the literacy curriculum “is not an invasion” of family values that are taught at home.

Thank goodness their deliberate response to provoke violence has been met only with a lawsuit.

    More money, fewer services.

    The MCPS way!

They're working hard to make a mediocre school system so expensive that the folks who pay the txes to support it can't afford the private schools that would serve their kids far better.

I have no idea why so many parents vote against their own interests here. The concept of "the more you make schools into social indoctrination centers, the less they'll educate", is not really that hard to understand.

Interestingly enough, I have run into several local parents recently who have been considering pulling their kids out of public school and into private school. They just aren't happy with the direction things are going, and the increasing hostility towards Jews (both overt and subtle CRT-derived) is making them nervous about what's going on in school.

I'm concerned and not a little displeased with the current rise in anti-Semitism in this country, seemingly aided and abetted by educational institutions, mostly at the college level. It is undoubtedly percolating downward, but is not yet as truly nasty as is evident in our institutions of "higher learning," where the attuitudes of future educators and administrators are formed and nurtured.

I guess it's important to recognise just whom it is OK to hate.

MCPS tardy in submitting homework regarding chronic student absenteeism.

    The dog ate it!

The new plan will “tighten up” school policy to ensure chronically absent students receive appropriate discipline, according to MCPS spokesperson Jessica Baxter. Current policy states in the event of an unexcused absence, the school counselor will meet with the student and their caregivers, verify the reason for the absence and “determine appropriate interventions.”

“Kids are smart. They’ll work the system. If they know they can skip class and still pass, and there’s no disincentive—I mean, it’s going to happen,” Porrovicchio said.

    Did someone say Tighten Up?

"The anonymous 10-year MCPS veteran said she’s grown increasingly concerned about student behavior issues in recent years. In the letter she posted to social media detailing her reasons for quitting, she cited motivation issues and lack of discipline or accountability as key underlying factors behind student misbehavior."

Obviously what needs to be done is to introduce sodomy and trans agenda driven curriculum to elementary students.

    Obviously.

What do they expect when kids have been taught for the last few decades that there's really no punishment for bad behavior and no requirement for personal responsibility. Why would they show up to school if they don't have to? Their parents aren't involved enough to give a sh*t either. They probably have the mindset of sending them off to school and then it's the school's job to deal with them.

MCPS excuse for violating parental rights? Too many of you ingrates are complaining. We just can't quantify how many that is. Else we could break the rules on when to tell you to pound sand!

Attorneys for the school defendants assert that an opt-out accommodation is never guaranteed, citing MCPS religious diversity guidelines that say “if such requests become too frequent or too burdensome, the school may refuse to accommodate the requests.”

A sworn statement filed by the school district’s lead curriculum expert, Niki Hazel, asserts the volume of requests had become just that—disruptive. Her statement describes a “growing number” of accommodation requests creating “significant disruptions to the classroom environment and undermining MCPS’s educational mission.”

MoCo360 filed a public information request with MCPS on July 25 requesting data quantifying the number of times an elementary student was allowed to opt out of class when one of these storybooks was read. On Friday, MCPS communications director Chris Cram responded to the request, stating:

“Please know that there are no responsive documents to your request. There is no numerical data quantifying the number of times an MCPS elementary student was allowed to opt out of class when one of the school district’s six LGBTQ+ inclusive storybooks was read by the teacher.”

Wolff was referring to the violence that broke out after a football game between Walter Johnson and Bethesda-Chevy Chase High schools in Bethesda. That violence prompted the school system to announce that attendance at varsity football games would be restricted districtwide.

No charges for the violent kids.

Attendance to the games will be restricted for everyone.

Simple solution is to eliminate Friday night games and have them Saturday morning at 9AM. Friday nights can then be repurposed to midnight basketball. Future prison residents will sleep right through the game.

    We didn't have lights.

    Kick-off was at 11am.

I've learned that charges have been brought against the miscreants.

    Finally....

there are no restrictions on football games. they say kids have to be with a parent, and that's false. i watched groups of kids walk in by themselves at last weeks QO game and the JV game at Churchill last night. the hypocrisy in moscow county is entertaining. kabuki theater at best.
