Maryland State Steel Challenge Championship and Marauder Steel - Thurmont, MD - Sept 2-4, 2023

Thurmont Conservation and Sportsman's Club will be hosting the Maryland State Steel Challenge Championship with a bonus Marauder Steel match. A portion of every paid registration goes straight to Platoon 22. They are a Frederick, MD based Veterans suicide and support non-profit. Come out and shoot Steel Challenge and have a chance at winning some great prizes!

Maryland State Steel Challenge Championship -
Location: Thurmont Conservation and Sportsman's Club, 11617 Hunt Club Rd, Thurmont, MD 21788 - Google Maps
When: Saturday September 2nd, Sunday September 3rd.
How do I sign up? Practiscore: Maryland State Steel Challenge Championship 2023 - Registration closes 8PM EST 8/18/2023
Match Level: Tier II, SCSA Sanctioned. USPSA number required.
Match Fee: $60 per gun
Lodging (Camping): Primitive camping is free on the TCSC grounds. RV/Camper sites available for a charge, include water and power w/ dump station on site for free.
Lodging (Hotel): Super 8, Thurmont, MD - Springhill Suites by Marriott, Federick, MD - Hampton Inn, Ft Detrick/Frederick, MD
Food: Two food trucks per day Saturday and Sunday.
Match Format: Two flights per day (Saturday and Sunday). 8 squads per flight, 10 slots per squad. AM squads hammer down at 9AM, PM squads hammer down at 2PM.
Bonus Features: Laser leveled targets, cash side match, all 8 classifier stages, dedicated sight in bay, Bluetooth timers and digital scorekeeping, dedicated ROs.

Great question. Static steel targets. Only one stage you move on the clock. GMHarle linked an awesome article. https://scsa.org/ also has a good video that shows you the basics. All competency levels are welcome, although a USPSA number is required for this match since it is a Tier II match. We also put on local matches (No USPSA number required) on Wednesdays if you wanted to come try it out.
