I recently took my trusty old Marlin-Glenfield 22LR Bolt Action to the range to plink a bit and see if the inexpensive Simmons scope had maintained zero over the course of some moving and shuffling about during the last year.

Happy to report zero was held just fine but, in the course of the days shooting I began to wonder if it is possible to either lighten the trigger pull or put in a replacement trigger with a smoother and lighter pull. It's a very nice-- accurate shooting rifle and I believe I could shoot with more consistent accuracy if I didn't have to squeeze that damn trigger so hard.

Any suggestions for trigger adjustments/upgrades/replacements for this little gem would be appreciated--thanks in advance!

Here is a thread on someone having similar issues.
They ended up replacing the trigger with a rifle basix.
    Very helpful--thanks!

Update: Just replaced the stock trigger w/ the Rifle Basix trigger kit at the link-- WOW! What a complete difference... it's like butta Jerry--butta! Can't wait to get this little gem back to the range. I can't imagine not being able to accomplish improved accuracy/groups.

    Marlin Rimfire Rifle Trigger Replacement (1lb - 2.5lbs pull) - MAR-1

The replacement went pretty smooth but the instructions from the folks at Rifle Basix could be tweaked to be a bit more helpful.

Please let us know how your range session goes. I have a Marlin Glenfield Model 25, which I THINK is basically the same rifle as the Model 20, with the addition of factory sling swivels. It was my first .22, and it shoots well with ammo it likes. The trigger isn't horrible as the breed goes, but it most definitely isn't great either.

Will do-- this trigger though... compared to the original, not even in the same universe. At least as I'm in my basement running function checks after the replacement. We'll see how it goes off the bench and a couple of sand bags.
