Mag fed, especially bullpup style

OK... don't ask me why.... but I suddenly have a desire to own a mag fed shottie, especially a bullpup style by Panzer Arms..... Went back several pages, not much for reviews or opinions.... So... Yeah or nay??

I like to hear from someone with experience as well. Esp regarding the trigger. I have heard anecdotally mag fed shotties are a PITA and the magazines dont really drop free or insert smoothly.

I have a Saiga 12 and a Civet 12. Both feed off Saiga 12 magazines. If it had been an option at the time, I would have bought a VEPR 12 instead, but here we are. I think once you get them running correctly, DM shotguns are quite a bit of fun. However, they have problems in terms of their ability to be used in competition (hello, unlimited division!) and traditional home defense (where carrying around more ammo is annoying compared to a side saddle). As some sort of building security weapon, I suspect they're quite effective, but that's not something I'm doing personally. The hotness for DM-fed shotguns right now is the RIA VR80, which has a very good rep out on the European IPSC circuit. If I was building an Unlimited division shotgun, I would choose that.

Rock-and-lock magazines suck on shotguns, especially ones without LRBHO. Avoid them if possible. I have yet to hear of a mag-fed bullpup shotgun that got really rave reviews; in fact, the only bullpup shotguns that people really seem to like are the KSG and Tavor TS-12, both of which hold enough shells that I doubt you'll need reloads. If you told me "go buy a couple bullpup shotguns today", those would be my choices.

I have the PA AR12 and have no issues with it whatsoever. It was difficult to find magazines at first but I was finally able to find a couple 10 rounders to go along with the 2 5s that were included.

Just got an RIA VRBP 100. It's definitely a bit awkward. My biggest gripe is that the magazine is too close to the grip and hits my wrist while holding it. Trigger is pretty bad. Bought as an absurd toy so... Wanted a VR80, but decided to get something too play with in the meantime.

And the trigger? is it a true shotgun trigger, a milspec 11 lbs revolver type trigger, where you need a trip to the gym, or what?

The law clearly says "revolving cylinder". It does not actually define what that means exactly. The intent, I think, was clear: they wanted to ban Street Sweepers, Strykers, etc. that actually had a revolver-esque cylinder. The question is whether the law could be interpreted as catching the magazines on the TS-12 or SRM. I don't remember if the manual calls them cylinders, but if it doesn't, that's some powerful evidence there that they should not be banned.

Now, making this worse is that the MSP has been a little uneven about this. The MSP list says that the following are banned:
SRM-1208
SRM-1212

However, that same MSP list says that these guys are NOT banned:
IWI TS-12
SRM-1216

The SRM-1216 is mechanically the same shotgun as the SRM-1208 and -1212; those are just the SBS versions of it. My personal opinion is that the MSP screwed up and should not have banned the SBS versions of the SRM-12XX. If you look at the dates on those decisions, they were very early on after the AWB was passed, and they were looking for flimsy excuses to ban damn near anything. The more recent decisions were in 2018.

One other consideration is that what the TS-12 has is NOT a cylindrical magazine (vs the SRM, which is slightly more like that). It's more of a weird revolving triangle with tubes, not a cylinder.

I saw this magazine/cylinder/whatever at the Virginia gun show a while back, no bueno. Too bad, i really wanted to buy it.
