So LOP on my Savage Mark II is too long for my wife and the youth stock from Savage does not accommodate my heavy barrel.

I'm looking at an M&P 15-22 but I'd like to know what the minimum LOP is with the stock fully collapsed. Also, it seems from google that it takes the milspec AR stock. Correct?

I considered a 10/22 but I like the AR form factor of the M&P so that when she wants to move up there is already something for her in the safe that is 100% comfortable.

LOP is 10" when the stock is fully collapsed. It makes for a great gun if you have growing children.

Yes is does take Milspec AR stocks.

We love the 15-22. Soft shooter and tons of fun for kids of all ages. Mine wears a cheap Primary Arms red dot and makes even the most novice shooter feel great.

All Milspec adjustable stocks fit except those with dedicated built in buffer tubes (example: Ergo F93 Pro). However each will have a varying amount of slop in the tube depending a lot on how close to minimum LOP it is set for. To eliminate the slop completely you need a stock that is lockable not just the 6 position lever setting. You can eliminate most of it with a strip of electrical tape on the buffer tube towards the back of the buffer tube.. Or you can go to the expense of buying a stock with a locking lever. Best example is the Rogers/Safariland SuperStock. Looks like a Magpul stock with an extra lever on it.
