So I'm in my 6th decade, I have floaters and have had cataract surgery, very fustrated with my inability to aim well. Been drooling over red dots for decades, not being able to aim my KS7 very well with hearing protection on, got me to bite the bullet. Now I want one of these on every one of my toys. This HS407CO has a 8 MOA circle, not some tiny 2 or 3 MOA dot. Can't tell by the 2nd photo but the circle is crisp, you can even see the hole in the center at every firing distance in my townhouse. Price is on the low end of the better red dots. The dot is powered on as soon as I pick it up. Can aim with both eyes open though I can't break the habit of closing the left. Got the mount off eBay, it was a bit pricy but well made. I don't expect to need the solar panel on the sight but there's always the possiblity of a zombie apocalypse.

You've shot that KS7? Cause it's so light with high brass it really hit hard. I had a love/hate relationship with me. Just make sure the mount and sight are decently made and the screws are snug.

To clarify, if you're in your 6th decade, it means you're in your 50s.

I'm in my 7th decade, age 64, and I've got a detached vitreous humour giving me all sorts of crazy floaters, in addition to my normal bad vision.

Yes the wife and I both have. I've purchased 2 types of reduced recoil rounds, the first just the lowest speed & 0000 Buck weight round I could find. The second was advertised as reduced recoil which are similar to police only rounds. They are 00 Buck which I didn't exactly want due to concerns over over penetration.

We tried the first and they were a handful so I ordered the 2nd. The wife actually did better with it than I did. I have trouble holding on to the front grip. She has no problem. I also installed the cheek pad and shoulder saver. We don't plan to shoot this for fun, we have a small pile of handguns for that. This is for home defense so we only need to get proficient with it and build up muscle memory. We do a lot of dry firing with snap caps.

I looked into the shortie shells but they don't seem to be 100% reliable.

The mount is very well made and all screws had thread lock on them.

I like it the mount! I believe it's solid enough to handle the KS7's recoil. I like the TMP/limbsaver pad too (that thing is expensive!)

They did not have those RMR mounts available when my KS7 was new. I ended up getting a KSG rail on mine to accommodate a red dot. I miss having the carry handle.

I bought my 507K, 6MOA dot, for the same reason. Unlike the 2 MOA dots, the HS dot is crisp and easy to find.

I too have had to move to red dots on long guns. I guess the handguns will be next. Took me many years to get a place to enjoy shooting and then the vision issues started.

Welcome to the red dot side! RDSs are so intuitive.

I looked at doing a rail with riser and it just seemed to make more sense to leave the handle and get the KS7 mount. Plus I like the look and like keeping the handle though the red dot is pretty much in the middle of the handle hole. I suppose I could drill a different hole. After all, that hole has a purpose and I need to remove the mount to access it. The money saved not buying the rail and riser went into the LimbSaver, which as you said was pricey. From everything I read/viewed before acquiring the KS7, there was no leaving home without it. (It being the LimbSaver.)

I'm 55 and I'm starting to see issues using iron sights. Came across this product called EyePal (https://eyepalusa.com/). Basically, you look through a tiny hole attached to your shooting glasses. Works incredibly well, at least for target work. I think you could probably make your own by putting a small hole in some electrical tape and put that on your glasses.

Uh - you need to aim a shotgun?
Any number of reasons to do so, but in this case HD ranges so limit the spread of any kind of shot load that if you don't take care to place your shot, you can indeed miss. Try your shotgun at 10-20 feet.

    Aye.

This technique has been used by pistol bullseye shooters since the 60s, at least. I recall an attachment for one's shooting glasses that was intended to sharpen focus. It attached to the frame of the glasses and had a short arm that swung a small, black plate with an aperture into place in front of the shooter's eye while shooting and swung clear when not needed.
Damn y'all are old. I guess I have a couple more decades to go until I need a red dot on everything.
LOL, if you're lucky, you too will get old.

Hopefully not too old. When I can't wipe my own ass anymore I'm opting out of the agreement.
