I know that in Maryland, all handguns are required to have a lock at time of purchase. I've searched around the interweb but could not find a diffinitive answer.

Are locks also required for restricted long guns (like an AR)? If so, what locks are acceptable in our fine state?

There's no such thing anymore as a restricted (regulated) long gun. Every long gun once listed as regulated is now banned.

You have only handguns, which require locks unless they have an internal locking mechanism or were manufactured before December 31, 2002, and you have long guns which are not regulated, no waiting period, and do not require locks.
