I’m not sure if this is the correct sub-forum for this topic.

I want to buy a lockbox for my truck. I’m thinking of this V-Line. I have one in my house and I like the quality—especially love the lock mechanism. I’d need to buy a cable to secure it under my seat. Anyone know of a really secure cable?

I dont want to go with the console safe cuz they are expensive and don’t seem to be anymore secure. Plus it stays with the truck and I lose my console vault when I trade the truck.

Seems like it would work just fine... I would find one of those chains that come with laptops.

I have one for my Ram from Lock’er Down that is custom fit. They aren’t cheap but it seems well made and I am really happy with it.

Did you get this one? It looks like it's made for those little rear floor compartments? Damn things cost as much as a gun!

Or maybe this one(I'll have to look in my truck)?

I use V Line and they give me piece of mind in the house and in the car.

Box has a cutout that the cable lays in, when you lock the box it prevents the cable coming out

    What’s the assessment of SnapSafes?
I have one of their lock boxes with the cable still in the wrapper I bought a while back. Didn’t end up using it as the dealer had one for my vehicle that fit perfect and served the purpose.

I use a high strength cable. But as said, it is easily defeated with it a Dremel or any battery powered cutting device. So I only use it if I know that I will be away from my car for just a short while.

I have this for my TRX and Mavericks and Bronco Raptor, etc.. Works well and they often have ~20%+ sales....

You're better off making a hidden compartment in your dash board depending on what kind of car you have. Thieves look easy fast targets. Finding a lock box is very alluring.

People are gonna say that those cheap boxes can be defeated easily. That's true, but peace of mind is different for different people.

The linked one is $198 .
Cheap is subjective . But in the context of my popular brand one that was $ twenty something , $198 isn't cheap .

You’re trying to make it difficult and slow down the bad guy. No car safe is as safe as the pistol being under your control.

And in the other context , the relative quality of the lock box is moot , when the thieves just steal the whole car .

I think I'm more or less in this camp. Having had both personal and work vehicles broken into, they are usually more of a smash and grab kind of the.

I would completely avoid boxes with cables. I carry bolt cutters in my pick-up truck. I'm sure some thieves do as well.
