    John Galt Speaking.
So I have been following the thread about the Polymer80 Glock lowers, and then I found a Polymer80 for the G19, and after having build an AR from scratch about a year ago, I am getting the itch to build myself another piece. Welp, I started doing some research, and after adding up the:

    Stripped Slide
    Barrel
    Polymer80 Lower
    Spring Kit
    Trigger
    Trigger Bar
    AND NOTHING ELSE!

I was already almost over $700. How is it possible that I can buy a brand new G19 with shipping and FFL transfer for $635 online, but to even consider building one with the most basic materials, it will cost me at least $200 more?!

I'm not even a Glock guy...I have plenty of guns, its mostly just a hobby etc. I would think that buying the parts and putting them together myself would be cheaper! It certainly was with the AR, and I didn't skimp on the parts I put into that!

Anyway, it feels to me like I am going to end up building another AR if these handgun parts prices stay where they are. Just what I need, another rifle!

I went through the same exercise. Not a Glock guy, but was going to build for fun and knowledge.

When I saw the slide costs as much as a whole gun, I passed.

Saving money is not the point. Having a pistol without paperwork is the point. Or enjoying a hobby where you get to build useful things. Saving money really isn't part of the plan.

I would pay $200 for no S/N and no HQL. Putting my money where my 2nd amendment mouth is, is priceless.
That's why I built mine. The cost was $650 including 3 mags, not bad and it was a great learning experience, something I really enjoy doing. Screw MD's HQL for all of the reasons listed by r3t1awr3yd!!

I still have two on my list to build from scratch, a Sig and a 1911. Both will once again, yield more knowledge and satisfaction. No, they probably won't be cheaper than just going out and buying one, but MD has made it more troublesome than needed, and for what... The results of all of these limiting pieces of legislation have done nothing to deter crime in any way.....

Midway has a sale on the lowers ($60) and the LPK ($40). Add a complete upper to that ($400) and you're right at $500. Crazy cheap, again, for no S/N and HQL.

Do you have a link for the $40 LPK?

Now it says no sale and backordered. I did take a screenshot from my phone when I ordered it:

That's the full-size frame (17), not the compact (19). You do need to be a little careful cutting the rear rails on those, cause if the right rear shears off (like this) -

The little bastard can (and likely will, like it did on mine) go cyclic on you.
