If we are serious about changing the gun laws in the state then why don't we change our approach. The only way to make this liberal state recognize the voliation of our civil rights is to hit it in its pocket book. How you ask? Buy getting the big companies involved. For instance many of you all are season ticket holders to the O's or Raven's well tell those organization that if you don't support our civil rights we won't support you, and boycott games. If major companies start to take a hit they wll join the fight and it will show that in this state there is enough support for our 2A civil rights.

My model is the 1960's, when the bus strikes in the south crippled the economy. This is the same model we must use to protect the 2A. I know people will say I am crazy but the only way to hurt these people, in the immediate, is to hurt their pocket books. So stop going to threaters, resturants, malls etc. and let them know why. Because of their in action to support civil rights we refuse to spend money at their establishments, which stops tax revenue. The loss of revenue will force a change. You guys can bash me but this is just my opinion!:)

Shhhhh. That's crazy talk. I think we are just supposed to politely wait until the Supremes decide on some case after 5 yrs. At which point the state will ignore the Supremes and keep doing what they want to do. People tell me that is the "classy" way to handle these types of things. :sad20:

...and to show how serious we are about fighting for our rights we then sue MSP for not fingerprinting us quickly enough (and in doing so we pretty much confirm that fingerprinting of gun owners is OK as long as nobody is inconvenienced by a processing delay).

We began something like this in the final days of SB281. One big hit was Apple Ford. The owner apparently was pro-2A and had no idea he was funding anti-2a candidates.

We need to see it continued. Look up "SB281 The Alamo" here on this forum.

How dare you say such things! The ravens are more important than god! No way should you ever boycott footsballs for anything else!

You just sit back, shut up! We show that we wont take it by being the bigger man and ignoring them. They see the consitittuion-thingy, they know what it says. Just vote, and write letters to ppl who wont read them. Thats the proper way to handle it. Only the liberals can fight dirty. Just because they are winning doesnt mean it works.

I've got to ask, if MOM and friends don't care if millionaires quit the state en mass, and don't care if they drive out huge employers like Beretta why should they care if more employers/businesses hit the road? They still have the 49% AKA, working stiffs, to tax and they haven't even come close to their goal of European-style taxation. You know, the Detroit economic model.

I never much saw the allure of large men in tights crashing into one another so I am all for a boycott of football and really, any other sport that goes on at the stadium. Project Alamo all the way.

You're not crazy at all, but asking a large portion of these people to give up their Rich Ball Player Voyeurism is like asking them to turn off Dancing With The Stars.

People are addicted to Sport Figures and Hollywood Types and Maxing Out Their Credit Cards.

Businesses know this. They also know that people will bitch night and day about 88 day wait times to pick-up guns yet the same people will run to the gun shops to buy more guns.

Excellent idea though and it may have worked 50 years ago, but not now.

People with season tickets are not going to let a gazillion dollars worth of seats just go to waste. I had season tickets for several years, years ago, and my one seat (upper level) was $750 a year.

And even if you threaten to give up your season tickets (and PSLs), there's a line around the proverbial block of others, more than willing to take them (at least for football) off you hands in a heartbeat.

1 - Boycotts NEVER hurt the intended victims. When you stop going to theaters, restaurants and shops, you end up hurting the kids at the snack bar or the waiters or the sales clerks.

2 - the majority of the voters in Maryland are not pro gun anyway.

3 - As far a boycotting the Ravens goes...if you don't go to the game, who cares, you already paid for your tickets. If you stop buying your tickets, you will lose your PSL and there are thousands of people on the waiting list. Ravens would love nothing more than to take your PSL and resell it at current prices.

And there is the cop out. People that cheat on taxes say "But everybody cheats".

It is all about conviction. I never would have thought about buying my next Ford from Apple Ford until I found out the owner is a 2nd Amendment supporter. So, I will seriously check out Apple Ford the next time we are in the market for a new vehicle.

Leatherman, Inc. supported Kerry in the 2004 election, and I wrote the owner and told him he would not get another dime of mine. Sure, there are plenty of other people out there that will buy Leatherman tools, but I am not one of them. That is essentially what Mr. Leatherman's response was prior to the election and right after receiving my initial e-mail. About 3 or 4 months after the election, Mr. Leatherman wrote me another e-mail about how we should all be able to support whatever candidates we deem fit and that I should think about all the Leatherman employees that had nothing to do with his decision. Yep, he should have thought about that before the company itself took such a position.

Where I think our biggest problem is, is getting pro 2nd Amendment people to understand that they can make a huge difference IF they put forth the effort (e.g., boycott, vote, contribute). The number of un-registered voters that showed up in Annapolis to oppose SB281 was astounding. It was something like 40% of 1,300 people. Now, imagine if that is the statistic for all gun owners throughout the state. Imagine if 40% of them are un-registered voters because they feel like "my vote does not matter" just like boycotting the Ravens does not matter.

This is all about coming together and getting as much support together as possible. Instead of spending that money on the Ravens, Orioles, etc., donate it to the NRA, MSI, etc. Instead of watching the games on the weekend, get involved in some Pro 2nd Amendment volunteer work.

I like this! Publish a list of pro-2A businesses and a list of the anti-gun bad boys and let this work for us.

I concur. I wrote something like this as well. If every gun owner boycotted the antis for 30 days, it would make a big difference. Maryland has plenty of borders to cross. It's not even that much of a sacrifice.

I would also add charity letters. I give to disabled veterans and the VFW. I was thinking of writing them and saying I can no longer send them money because I am fighting for the rights that you died or almost died for and I need to put my assets there.

I think it would be best to support 2A businesses and ignore those that do not support 2A. A list would be helpful. I refuse to do anything more than necessary in MD that provides them my money. NO OC, no sporting events, no state fair, no casinos. I can go to other places for these things. Even if my gas costs me the same in DE I have denied MD the tax money.

Why not just stop paying state income and property tax if you want to gain notice? After all it's the State's attention you want and to financially impact, not the Raven's and M&T Bank Stadium or the Orioles (who hardly have great attendance throughout the season). Boycotts only work when you have enough people in mass that already use the services or product to affect it adversely enough to make a large enough impact to jeopardize the profits and viability of the company. One million gun owners boycotting of which at any given time maybe .05% buying new cars or going to a few games here and there isn't really going to set the screws to a business.
