Haha, the bear paws always break everything.

One a different note, was this after many firings? You need to brush or swab the barrel between a bunch of shots. Maybe too much fowling built up and bound everything up? Or the two patches exceeded what the ball will deform too to release pressure.

Also, why did it now break inside the barrel? Did you not use a starter and bend the rod too much starting a ball?
No, no. :nono: If you read the first post, I was cleaning and I doubled the patches. The bore was not extremely dirty; I always swab between shots. This was the final cleaning. I just was not paying attention this morning as I was plunging the patch(s) up and down into the bore, with the barrel resting in a Homer bucket of hot dishwashing water...

    Specially Army bear paws. Lol
I use an all aluminum rod with a folding tee handle. I keep that in my gun. Not ball starter cause the barrel has a recess at the muzzle.

Try using a folded piece of bounty paper towel to swab dry. It is forgiving in that it compresses but doesn't get stuck and it cleans enough crud that you won't have problems seating your next load.

I used to do it for a full 50 loads when shooting a match and never had it fail.
