While you didn’t ask, it absolutely is INFRINGEMENT. Just. Like. They. Want.

Yup , sure is . Both the underlying Magazine issue , and ( at least sometimes ) overzealous interpretation of Straw purchasing .

The magazine part will be going away in predictable future , with Bianchi or similar case , but not yet as of today .

    What's a Stray purchase?

If you meant, Straw, how is it a straw purchase, if it's me buying the gun for myself? It's just the online retailer has a goofy rule where they won't ship based on my primary address.

As for the FFL, I've never used them before. I only emailed them today to see if they would handle a long gun transfer for an MD resident, which they said they didn't have a problem with. I guess I should just drop in since they're close enough. I live less than 10 mins from the MD/PA border.
Maybe he could order a couple of these for you too

    Yes .
The gun itself is Maryland legal . But from a Maryland FFL would come with either a 10 round magazine , or no mag . The pickup from a Pa ( or other free state FFL ) is a work around to get the original 25rd mag for no extra charge .
    Thanks BF!

Bass pro has them in stock up in Harrisburg. 25 bucks. Take a nice drive, have lunch, buy as many as your heart desires and you just had a good day. Much faster and legal than hmmm and hawing on how to "sneak" a mag into the state lol

See if the FFL has any in stock then if the 25 round mag is the selling point for you just buy them online and have them dropped off at your friends house it's not a firearm so the alphabet boys won't bat an eye.

    Ethical?

How about is it legal? The letter of the law and the interpretation (right, wrong or otherwise) of the law are pretty important.

While you didn’t ask, it absolutely is INFRINGEMENT. Just. Like. They. Want.

Getting potentially legal opinions on the Internet. Priceless.
    ^^THIS. Same for medical advice.

Or the magazine issue will go sideways, as the MD GA decides to close the "loophole" whether or not their action is allowable under the COTUS.

Then figure on three or four more years to get that straightened out through the courts.

In Maryland, "predictable" is presumably predicated pessimistically, proven by pusillanimous, pestilential, pretentious persons pretending to legislate.

    Putrid prevaricators.

Ethical or not, sounds like a waste of time and energy. As others have stated, support your favorite MD FFL and then take a drive and pickup some 25 rounders. Also consider that having a short mag can come in handy at times when shooting from a bench.

Me personally, I wouldn't spend a dime on a S&W M&P 15 22. There are far better non composite AR 22s out there, but that's just me.

I'll keep that in mind. Sometimes when I see a 15-22 at a shop or gun show, I'm tempted but have never pulled the trigger. I'm happy with my 10/22 with tech sights when I just want to do some .22 semi auto shooting. Not the same manual of arms as an AR but I just shoot an actual AR when I want to do that.

    I'd start with a Tippman M4 22. You can catch them(when in stock)for around the mid $400.

Keep your eye open for Bear Creek Arsenal .22lr uppers. They are basically CMMG knockoffs. They are supposed to be reliable.

The Tippmann looks sweet. Stop trying to make me spend more money lol.

Since the Covid prices on older stuff have come down, I’ve spent enough on 1960s - 80s S&Ws this year. Gotta replenish the gun fund.

If you get a good one they are usually accurate. I owned 3, two worked one didn't. The price is right if it works.
