Whats involved in changing from 223 to 308? Is it just an upper change? Or is this not possible?

    Thanks

You need an AR10 lower. Lots of other calibers you can choose but .308 is too long of a case for that lower.

Not possible on an AR15 lower. The .308 requires a larger AR10 lower. (EDIT: They beat me to it^)

You can swap to other calibers that will fit in the AR15 mag well, such as .300blk, 7.62x39, 5.45x39, .458 Socom, .50 beowulf, various pistol calibers, etc...

the closest you can get is the Colt LE901. It was $2300 before the panic...now very hard to find or very pricey. The Colt comes with .308 upper and modified .308 lower, which can accept a special "box" that channels your standard 5.56/.223 magazine into the rifle. You then switch out the .308 upper barrel for any standard AR-15 upper barrel assembly and presto, you are shooting 5.56/.223.

Problem is for what the rifle costs you can pretty much buy a separate AR-15 and an AR-10
