Some random guy entered UHS, then assaulted a teacher when escorted out. The official line is that a student blocked a door open, but I'm not buying that. The students know they'll get expelled for doing so.
The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office said it located and identified a man who entered Urbana High School on Tuesday morning, then assaulted a teacher who escorted him outside.

Katie Robine, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office, wrote in an email that the man struck a teacher in the face.
They're also downplaying the severity of the assault.

that school is in the middle of agricultural fields and the YMCA with high value residential across the Steet.

Where are these nutjobs coming from? or is it an expelled student?

... Students don't get "expelled" anymore except for the most egregious reasons ... You have to kill or almost kill somebody before you reach that threshold ... My wife was the assistant principal for a City High school for almost 20 years in charge of disciplinary issues ... you would not believe the severity of the crimes that are committed in schools that doesn't even get the perpetrator locked up but gets the perpetrator a literal slap on the wrist ... If the same incidents happened outside of school ... they would be looking at major jail time ... we live in Bizzaro times !

"Downplaying" seems to be Maryland school system policy.

Northwest HS had a student on campus who was wanted for attempted murder. MCPD had to wait for him to leave, he tried to run, ditched a pistol, then was caught, pistol recovered.

MCPD News put out a press brief on this, Fox 5 had a report. A few days later, the NW principal sent a letter to parents saying that this was an "Off Campus" incident.

Come to find out, school security/Adminsitration knew that this kid probably had a pistol on him for the entire time that he was in the school that day.

My kids school, Poolesville, had a "retread" Clarksburg then Alternative School sent to us. He was arrested in our parking lot. His Instagram videos showed him and his buddies with s-loads of cash, pistols and rifles. This was also downplayed.

The school systems are playing Russian roulette with our kid's safety.

You can thank the Department of Education and the NEA for creating this chaos ...

This happened yesterday? Sounds like they're keeping a lid on it.

They're trying to. There may or may-not have been an official document circulated internally to staff indicating who may speak for FCPS, and that the official position is "a student" blocked a door open.

The assault-ee is one of the music instructors. This guy delivered more than just a "punch in the face."

There's a soft-expulsion path. Rather than formal expulsion, they transfer you to Heather Ridge. Never heard of it?
Heather Ridge School provides an alternative educational program for students who require a highly structured setting. At Heather Ridge, students have access to individual and group counseling, behavior management services, and small academic classes that enable students to master educational and behavioral objectives necessary for success in a school setting or job site.
Heather Ridge serves both middle school students (grades 6-8) and high school students (grades 9-12). Not a particularly large facility for such a breadth of grade levels. Hmmmm.

This x100. Check in with someone that knows the ins and outs of schools like wilde lake in howard county. Students will hold open exterior doors to let their homies in to the school who will then jump a targeted kid in the bathroom. It's why they only unlock one bathroom for the school now.

Schools now face routine violence and disruption while the kids doing these things face zero consequences... especially if the actions are "manifestations of their disability".

"manifestations of their disability". ... This issue alone is what is driving school funding insolvency ... Everybody has a "Special needs Disability" ... And the costs are well beyond the normal per student funding allotment ! ... My wife was also an expert of the Child Education Disability Laws ... The Education establishments theory is "all men are created equal ... and if you just give us more money we'll prove it" ...
