Apparently they aim to put 205 in each can by weight.
Now you got to take them all back out of the clips and load the clips by headstamp year for best accuracy![]()
This stuff is all mixed headstamp loose in a 30 caliber ammo can. Most of it is de-linked machine gun ammo.
I got 5 cans awhile back, and out of about 1020 or so rounds, over 800 was 1976. I got another 5 cans just before the price increase, but I haven't even opened the shipping boxes yet.
By the way, those shipping boxes are a nice size for storing empty brass.
That linked stuff went fast.
I just wish I'd bought more when it was 25 cents a round. It annoys me to recall that they thought they had enough to last for years.
Then the machine gunners bought it up and used it to shoot up old cars and refrigerators at Knob Creek.
You guys should have bought the linked .30/06 the CMP had a few weeks ago. It was 250 rounds for $137 shipped, so even cheaper than the loose HXP. I ordered four cans, and three of them were actually Remington 1954, all of the same lot number.
Did you happen to notice what one of year distribution you had? Just out of curiosity.
Apparently the Greeks don't know how to count; or the CMP peoples don't.
Alphabrew: the best tool for unloading those clips is the US Rifle, Caliber .30, M1.
