The test was very easy. I took a beater gun just to make it more interesting. I think my groupings were better with the added “stress.” Forced me to focus more than I would while plinking.

I trained my wife with much smaller 18x24” B style targets at distances longer than prescribed to prep for her class. She was getting very worried about how well she would do when she had to fire for qual because she had a lot of misses early on with 12x18 targets at 15yds. I kept reminding her that the B27 was huge and the distances wouldn’t likely be as far.

The week before her class I put up the B27 target (still longer distance though) and her confidence soared. We ran through the course 3 times with nothing missing the black. I swear she was messing with me the last 5yd string when she got her first 4 in the 10 and X then the 5th dropped to Mr. B’s man parts.

The following week she got 25/25. Just waiting for her approval and card now.

I’m fine with B27 targets being used for the test but not so much for training unless maybe you actually score with the rings to track progress. They are bigger than the B Mod we used for 500yd slow fire in the military FFS

If anyone needs some targets to prep in the Finksburg area, pm me. I have like 90 left

If you're going to use the scoring rings as a glorified bullseye target, that's fine. But the scoring rings on a B27 have little to do with the spots you'd want to hit on a bad guy. The high 8 or 9 would be, anatomically, a much better target.

    Here you all go:

I do not aim with my hand; he who aims with his hand has forgotten the face of his father.
    I aim with my eye.

I do not shoot with my hand; he who shoots with his hand has forgotten the face of his father.
    I shoot with my mind.

I do not kill with my gun; he who kills with his gun has forgotten the face of his father.
    I kill with my heart.”

Haha, she didn’t need his “favor”. My wife is mostly a rifle shooter like myself, but she’s pretty good with a handgun too.

I was joshing , not implying she needed help .

But it is a thing . They usually semi- joking , but I frequently get asked by people next to me on firing line at quals to effect of " hey Biggfoot , can you put a couple into my target for me ? "
Of course I decline , if only for ego reasons ,

What? Can people not think differently? Should we not discuss ideas or thoughts on shooting?
"Point/instinct shooting" is an industry term of making shots without "aiming". Just saying. Call it what you want. That doesn't mean you neglect grip and trigger control.

    Your turn. :)

This was my target, I started rushing the shots. I just kept going to back to match style shooting. I kept doing the make clear, show, drop slide pull trigger as well. Gun was a 1911 CCO in 9mm al frame.

For contrast this was my instructor qual shoot, at 15 yards. It was shot with my walther p99, the first time I shot it actually.

Here's the accepted federal law enforcement officer qual.
The FAM service just tightened up the times and passing scores.

Did my Wear & Carry qualifying today. Had hoped to freshen up a bit prior to going, but it wasn't to be. So I haven't shot anything since pre-covid. I used the brand new G-19 that I won a month and a half ago.

What sucked is me being right handed and my right elbow being inflamed with tendonitis and a bone spur. I got 25/25, and feel if someone can't get a passing score (at least), then they have no business having a firearm in their hand.

How would they practice to get a passing score if they have no business having a firearm in thier hand?

    This is all very confusing.

Do you not know how very very easy the qualification is?

Just a reminder.....everyone "has business" having a firearm in their hand.

It's so easy, even a cave man can do it.

    Everyone.
