HELP! Cant decide.....

Im Looking at buying either a FN 5.7 or a Sig P229 .40, AND either the S&W M&P Shield or the Springfield XDS .45. (I am a designated collector) Any thoughts? Im Really leaning towards the XDS for the little gun, as for the big gun I just cant decide. Any thoughts?

5.7 & Shield. I have not handled, much less fired the Shield or XDS. But the 5.7 is clear winner over the Sig.

Look at my 'Sig'nature banner below. I'm a Sig fan, but the 5.7 is the best defensive handgun today.

Yes, I believe I recall some saying that some indoor ranges won't allow it.

OP- if you do go with the also excellent P229, get it in .357Sig, there is a reason several agencies went with this round over the .40 & 9mm.

If I were to buy a gun that size/class I'd consider the Russian StrikeOne in 9mm.

Actually I wish could help, but I haven't shot any of those. Although I did see the 5.7 put though it's paces on Top Gun and I liked what I saw.

The 5.7 is a sweet shooter. I shot Minutemans. But for the price, you could get a 229, .357 barrel and a good holster.

A lot of $. But these are pretty different guns. The 5.7 is really in a league of one. I know you could get a lot of excellent rifles (including the amazing M1A), for that much money. Worth every penny.

Did you shoot the XDS? I did. I ran half a box through it or 5 mags. If your hand circumference is 9" or smaller it may be good for you. I couldn't get a good grip on it. It didn't have the recoil I was told it would have. I think the Shield would be a better option, theoretically, if a slim gun is what you're after (few more rounds than the XDS). Or maybe a Glock 30, 2x's the rounds if you're looking for .45. But of course a bigger profile.
