A search for a primary word, ie Harvard, would have yielded:
    http://www.mdshooters.com/showthread.php?t=129581&highlight=harvard

It was and is a fine paper. It is not however "current". The authors (Don Kate & Gary Mauser) are on record of writing this paper in Spring 2007.

It has resurfaced on Calguns as well:

There is not a single footnote dated past 2007. A search shows there is no mention of Heller (decided 2008) in the pdf. I linked a scanned pdf link to an identical Harvard Law Review dated 2007 in the first mdshooters link above.

I like the paper, but am befuddled as to it's recent resurfacing. Spreading as fast as a late-Summer Yosemite wildfire...

Yes, this is popping again all over the internet. In addition to it being dated, I wouldn't classify it as a "Harvard Research Study". It's an article published in the law journal of a conservative/libertarian student organization at the Harvard Law School.

But it's still a good read.

I talked about this when testifying before the House and Senate in Annapolis. If you listen to how the anti's phrase their arguments, they usually say something to the effect of "when you ban firearms, the rates of suicide by firearm plummet". Duh, and if you never get on an airplane, your risk of dying in a plane crash is very low.

I would be very reluctant to use that study. They list Luxembourg's homicide rate as 9.01 and then go on to cite Luxembourg as an example of why gun control doesn't work. Only problem is, the author got his information very wrong. Their homicide rate was 0.9 in 2002 (2.5 as of 2008). I haven't checked all the facts of this study but I would be willing to bet that it has more errors in it.

Also John Lott is a pretty biased source when it comes to anything conservative. If Fox news is willing to hire you there is a good chance that you are a vile creature.
