As Bigfoot says, the right gun for anyone is very subjective, you may want to make a list of what you want, in a pistol.
    ‘Hammer or Striker fired
    Polymer or Metal frame
    magazine capacity 8? 10? 15?
Safety? De cocker? Trigger Safety? Grip Safety?
Sights - fixed, adjustable, optics ready
Accessory Picatinny rail for lights or laser
grip laser (not for many under $500)
    Grip angle...
many of these choices are subjective for each shooter, you need to fondle a lot of guns and shoot them if possible. All of these features limit your choices, you may find that only one gun has everything you want in your price range and that feels right.

If (IF) you like Glock, join GSSF. Then Glock sends you a coupon to buy a Glock at Blue Label prices (Vets get BL pricing also). BL pricing is from a BL dealer.

Ballpark BL pricing (BL Dealers can very $50 or so).

What my BL dear has in stock:

Again thank for all of the replies. I went to the show in Harrisburg over the weekend. I was able to put my hands on many semi auto hand guns. As many stated, up range of purchase price limit. Looks like I'm looking at a colt 1911. Have a couple of models in mind.

Did I miss that there was a Harrisburg show?
