I support the idea, but this has as much chance as DiFi's AWB.

MAGA. Let's cut their budget too. ETA: this won't even make it out of the house, but at least there's a conversation happening.
I doubt it will even make it in the front door - I know it won't come back out again.

Cynical , very Cynical , but true :

Did this get introduced when GOP controlled both houses , and the White House? You know , when it would have had double digit % chance of passing . Big Negatory .

Did they give more than trivial push for the Hearing Protection Act , which could have had better than 50/ 50 approached right ? Big Negatory .

NOW ? Abolish the NFA ? Zero chance . and potentially diluting pro gun efforts for more incremental goals . or playing defense against Dem proposals .

Because it is a political talking point. “See guys we are on your side, it’s those evil democrats stopping everything. Vote for us.”

The GOP had ZERO chance of getting that through because Chuck Schumer still had control over the Senate. Nobody should refer to us as having "control" of both houses unless we have 60 seats in the senate. Otherwise, the filibuster rules (for both parties). The bill in question of course won't go anywhere now, and wouldn't have then, either. Zero chance with Chuck saying no to it, end of story.

That (being a "pro-gun" bill) died hard because of Parkland and Vegas. Mass shootings killed the atmospherics for anything along those lines. We barely avoided an AWB (and worse!) because of those events, courtesy of taking the bump stock fun out of a pending bill via an eventually doomed regulatory move.

The only thing this will serve is to give the Dems talking points about how they defeated the GOP's attempts to increase murder in the streets blah blah. The bill is a waste of time and energy, and squanders a rhetorical position by giving it for free to the Dems. Foolish.

Absolutely. It's safe for them to posture now.

Exactly. Proposing this now tells you all you need to know………that they’re not serious about it.

When you say “now,” do you mean “in your lifetime?” Name the last time the GOP had a filibuster proof Senate majority to go along with control of the House and a president who wouldn’t veto such a bill. Really: give it a try. It’s hard!

Sneak it into one of those 200+ page omnibus bills. Nobody will read it before it's passed.
