    Sounds more like they found eine Kiste aus rostigem Metall. Still, there might have been some collector's interest in there, just for relic's sake. Oh vell.

    When I was in Germany from 83-86 a local German told me that he knew of many guns, and even entire tanks were found buried after the war. I used to go shoot at Panzer Kaserne and I would see him there from time to time. They opened the range on the weekends to the locals.

    FN 1922. So is the mag laying on top. I think the muzzle on the lower right is a Unique 17, definitely not a High Power.
    It looks more like someone stashed their collection than a German unit caching their pistols.
