Finally got around to firing the Walther PPK/s I picked up a month ago from Gander Mountain. I cleaned it before taking to the range today and was shocked by how dirty it was and the amount of scratches it had -- *before* I had even fired it once. No real question, just kind of venting.

Unfortunately, that's typical Gander Mountain and why I refuse to purchase a gun there, or at any of the similar competitors.

I've certainly learned my lesson. The scratches I can understand, but the powder residue was shocking.

that was probably from a fired casing for Maryland. Every pistol I have bought has been like that.

Yep, fired shell casing. It's normal.

I've bought 2 very slightly used weapons there, I've been lucky both times. Both great guns. The other was new so no issues.

Expected it, but the patch just seemed dirtier than I would have thought.
