Is this the FBI I'm suppose to hate, 'cause I'm pretty good with them coming down on the Baltimore Schools Admins.

(Let this not be the 3rd, [or is it the 4th], dupe in a row that I've posted)

I think it maybe linked to kids that were absent but the school system counting them as present. Since federal funding is tied to attendance, there has been a long investigation by the media as it pertains to a special needs kid that needs a nurse to attend school, the school could not provide one, kid missed liked 100 days of school and they gave him like 30 days absent and passing grades.

Maybe they found that missing $500 million that disappeared into thin air from the budget about 10 years ago.

This is more along the lines of what I was thinking.

The sucking vortex that is North Avenue has been notorious for how the "per pupil" money is (mis)allocated.

A close second, IMO, is the Sasscer Building in Upper Marlboro.

I hear they are second in the country (?) for allocations per pupil...never could tell that from the abysmal results.

Hell, I'd also be interested to know where lottery/casino money that was "for the schools" went all these years....
No actual knowledge, but I'd bet it was something along the lines of "here's ten million dollars from the casinos. Since you got that ten mil, we are going to give you ten million less from the normal fund and use it someplace more interesting." Call it bureaucratic three card monty.

I think that's exactly how that goes. That way they get $10M with no strings attached to piss away or steal however they want to.

For sure! I always hated they way it was marketed every time they added something new to "The Maryland State Lottery", first scratch offs, then keno, then racetraxx, casinos, and then the table gaming, etc, etc etc.... "But its fo the chidrens!!!"

They just need more money to get better results.
    Don't you know that!
They spend somewhere around $14K per student/year. maybe bump it up to $20K and we'll see better results.
Let's form a Commission to study the problem and have a consulting firm do a study!

that's how it used to work. IIRC the legislature "fixed" the law so that casino revenue wasn't used as just an alternative pay stream and that it was used as additional funds.

Houdini the Magician couldn't make money disappear faster. How many times have they bought the air conditioning that the schools still don't have? Millions unaccounted for.

Someone could make a career out of investigating these North Avenue sleeze bags.
