Provided the barrel side of the pin remains in the same location how large of a barrel pin could be used before you risk weakening the trunnion. Has anyone ever used a taper pin and reamer to correct a egged hole .310 to .330 over the width of the trunnion ? or would a taper pin work its way out over time. Any comments would be appreciated

I cannot answer your specific question, but there are oversize barrel pins available for correcting headspace. I think they are 7mm. set headpsace with a gauge, and use a standard reamer to enlarge the hole.

check cnc warrior and akbuilder.com for the oversize pin.

I believe the standard pins are tapered to begin with.
