I bought a KKM P320 barrel, but the barrel hood is just a skosh too long and in need of fitting. Can someone recommend to me what kind of file(s) I should be looking at to do this task?

Brownells has gunsmithing oriented file sets. You will want a straight flat file that doooesnt corner cut because I would presume that you do not want to lower the surface below the hood step, merely shorten the hood. Make a fixture to hold it so you can keep your strokes square.

I get close with a medium single cut flat file. Then I sneak up on it with something like a #2 Swiss cut file. Then polish with a stone and fine grit paper on a popsicle stick or file.

Seems like you would be starting with the number #2 file.

Using a v-block for a round chamber end barrel or a square block for Glock type chamber end barrel will keep the hood square. You could use the v block for both actually.
