"Ms. Ayotte — the only one out of 22 senators on the East Coast north of Virginia who voted against strengthening background checks — has been the target lately of some of the most furious lobbying by gun control proponents, who have inundated local newspapers with letters to the editor denouncing her vote, run radio ads saying she “ignored the will of the people” and swamped her office with phone calls. On Thursday, two receptionists placed one call after another on hold as they politely listened to callers vent and replied, “Thank you for your message.”"

Looks like calls for support might be a good idea...

The Liberal Onslaught Against Kelly Ayotte

We ought to get perspective on the real nature of the most recent push on gun control, initiated out of the White House.

This is classic bait-and-switch politics, characterized by what current Chicago mayor, and former Obama chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel once called “never let a crisis go to waste.”

That is, never forgo an opportunity to exploit the emotions produced by a crisis or tragedy to further a pre-existing political agenda.

The tragic Sandy Hook murders that provoked these new initiatives to expand gun control would have never been stopped by anything being proposed.

But those pushing new controls could care less about this, because this is about “never let a crisis go to waste.” It’s not about carefully thinking through whether we will wind up freer or safer.

It’s about the left using this crisis for their ongoing agenda to expand government control over our lives.

A good chunk of the resources financing the onslaught of ads and protests against Ayotte is coming from out of state from the pocketbook of New York Democrat mayor Michael Bloomberg, whose net worth, according to Forbes magazine, is $27 billion.

Meh, gun grabbers can hammer away all they want. The anti gun population in general is not as strong as the pro gun. Pro gun people are single issue voters. Antis would quickly vote for a pro gun person if they also offered them free health care. I don’t see Ayotte being threatened in future elections because of this vote.
