Yesterday I carried in a Dr's office, a bank, and a restaurant that serves alcohol (I did not have any)

The list in the post just mentioned aboard aircraft without distinguishing commercial and private aircraft. Just pointing out different rules apply for non-commercial aircraft.
The list from MSP is inaccurate in multiple places (based on the sources they cite). I honestly think it's intentional to chill the right to carry in MD, but maybe I'm reading into it too far.

    2. Within 1000 ft of a public demonstration: only applies if conspicuously marked as no guns allowed or you're told to leave/disarm by law enforcement

    3. In legislative buildings: the cited statute only applies to MGA buildings and buildings with MGA offices

    4. Aboard aircraft: previously mentioned

    5. Inns where the innkeeper prohibits: the innkeeper can kick you out, but you've broken no laws until you refuse to leave (trespass)

    6. Dredge boats: it's 10 gauge _or smaller_. Sure it's a technicality that won't affect 99.999% of us, but still, it's plain language that they refused to copy in good faith.

    11. Rest stops: you can't display or fire your gun at a rest stop (other than immediate need for preservation of life, obviously), but nothing prohibits concealed carry.

    13. Childcare centers: "firearm may not be kept on the premise". I personally read that as specifically talking about storage (kept), not carrying. But I don't know the case law on that and I have no kids so it doesn't affect me at all.

A lot of this becomes irrelevant after SB1 becomes effective, though. Also, YMMV/IANAL/IDNSAAHIELN

So it's interesting that the rest area prohibitions states "unless secured in vehicle".... I thought it was illegal to leave a handgun un-attending in a vehicle in MD? Yeah or nay?

As long as you have your W&C you're fine. You just have to report it stolen within 72 hours when... I'm sorry, if... it's stolen.

I wouldn't, however, leave a gun in the car with someone without a W&C. Too easy for police to claim they're the ones transporting it illegally (regardless of who it's registered to, assuming it's registered in MD).

"Concealed is concealed" takes on more meaning every day, as does "EBMD". I was in yet ANOTHER place yesterday that had a sign saying they don't support the Bill of Rights, and they were none the wiser.

Nope. Not true. Nothing in transport sections or W&C says the gun must be on you.

Now for transport, there aren’t a lot of instances where you’d be leaving it in your vehicle. But for example, if you are hunting, you could 100% leave a handgun locked in your vehicle. Or at the range. Etc.

Now by transport statute, stopping at a rest stop would be iffy at best if you don’t have a W&C.

    To that point that to.

Also that said, I would not leave it unsecured. A cable locked storage box will stop 90+% of vehicle thefts of a firearm. $50 and a few minutes to install it is cheap insurance. If you are going to leave it in a vehicle anyway, it’s a few extra seconds to put it in one and a few seconds to take it out when you get back to the vehicle.

And MoCo right now, it would need to be unloaded and locked up to be within the 100yds of the entire county anyway.

And that is why we point out that the list is NOT to be trusted as printed and advise everyone to look up the specific law/regulation for the actual details and not the mythical details posted by MSP.
