That's why I carry my Home Occupancy Permit(HCP) on my person whenever I'm home...I’d have to show the cops that I am the legal home occupant before answering his questions.
We have a packet next to the front door.
For just such an emergency….

Bet they politely hand over their receipts on the way out too!

I prefer to wait til they get up to my truck. Sometimes, too much movement inside the vehicle can raise suspicion. If I’m getting pulled over, my wallet is out and on my lap before the officer ever gets out of his car.

No requirement to disclose. You can't lie if asked obviously.
It's a divisive topic. I'm not disclosing more than necessary.

I'm not a boot licker in the traditional sense of the term,
Do you really think that? I seriously doubt they run into that many people advising they are carrying. All joking aside, this type of repeated behavior gives many cops the thought of "What is expected during a traffic stop". Then they just out of the blue start asking if you have a carry permit when someone doesn't volunteer it, and that opens up a whole can of side of the road worms of chat.
Strive for minimum requirement on a traffic stop. You attempting to gain rapport by offering up about guns and shit isn't getting you out of a ticket. They don't want to be your friend.
Seriously? Do you not read the threads here about traffic stops and "Pleasant interactions" with them? LOLDo you really think that? I seriously doubt they run into that many people advising they are carrying.
And who knows, he didn't get a ticket, maybe it worked...
I would say I've read many, along with watching hundreds of videos/BWCs of police-driver interactions. Doesn't make me an expert, by any stretch. If you're saying your average patrol officer will undoubtedly fall prey to the Pavlovian response, well, if you say so. I just don't think it happens all that much, but again, I'm not a copper.Seriously? Do you not read the threads here about traffic stops and "Pleasant interactions" with them? LOL
Keep doing things that cops expect and they will expect those things. Why wouldn't they? You think a cop will say " You really didn't have to show me that".?
Not sure what you mean by "repeated behavior."All joking aside, this type of repeated behavior gives many cops the thought of "What is expected during a traffic stop". You think this guy is the only one to offer up his permit on a traffic stop? Not sure what you mean by "repeated behavior."
What's your insight on retrieving your wallet/DL before the cop arrives at your window? Good idea or not?
Agreed. If there's no chance he or she is going to see it, CMC (in fact, it's the law) and they don't need to know about it. We'll both get through our encounter faster and blissfully ignorant.I haven't been pulled over in a long time. The only reason I think I might volunteer that I had a permit and was armed is if I felt like it was likely the officer would spot my gun. Wouldn't want any surprises.
I disagree, I'm not doing any fidgeting around that could be mistaken for an aggressive maneuver. I'll wait for the cop to ask and only provide what he asks for.
How will they "might see it"? If it's on my hip, it won't be seen. If I have it laying on the seat,I have a couple microfiber towels that I'll just throw over it. No issue. Sometimes it's just in my passenger seat back pocket.Agreed. If there's no chance he or she is going to see it, CMC (in fact, it's the law) and they don't need to know about it. If they might see it, it seems probably best if they know about it first.
well, he did fvck herSuggest she get her shine box instead?
