It's a great suppressor. I have found that if you spray the baffles with this stuff, they are much easier to clean and it is actually a little quieter. It doesn't take much and a can lasts a long time.

Thanks for the tip. This is my first 22 suppressor so gonna have to deal with cleaning it at sone point.
I’ll pick up a can tomorrow and give them a spray.

You might also pick up a small postal scale. I weigh my .22 cans and, when they get about 2 ounces heavier, I clean them. I haven't counted how many rounds that is but they clean pretty easy at that time.

Submitted early May 2022, got approved today in early January.

I have an E4 certified on 6/17/22. Getting closer, I suppose, based on your dates. Should’ve quit while I was ahead. Didn’t need this one, only jumped at it because my first E4’s came back pretty quick (over the promised 90 days but way faster than regular paper forms), plus SilencerShop had a free tax stamp promotion. 209 days and counting...

As long as they aren't aluminum baffles...
I won't do aluminum baffles for that exact reason.

Too toxic for a shaky 72 year old to be playing with.
There is an easy way to do it. I put a string through the baffles to make it easy to put them in and out of the jar. I will leave the contaminated jar opened just enough to let the liquid evaporate. not much fuss or muss...

Yeah I was kind of hoping against hope for something in the 90 day range but it was not to be.
    My actual dates were:
    Submitted 4/21/2022
    Approved 1/12/2023

90 days might be a reality by the end of this year. All the Paper form 4s they were backlogged on is what is killing e-Form 4s, allegedly.

I typically follow this tracker. It is just an "average" and that average varies by state.

What is odd is silencer shop is posting 3 days to 9 months. If there are people getting approvals in 3 days the ATf should be investigated on their practces.

They are in the business of selling.
    Short wait equals more sales.
I’ve never understood the mentality of Im not buying suppressor because it takes to long to get. But apparently it’s a common theme.

When is the best time to plant a tree? 20 years ago.

Do the paperwork, the wait is there regardless. I learned my lesson the hard way at 420 days.

    Summary:
    eForm4 certified: 3/28/22
    Approved: 12/15/22
    Arrived at my door: 1/19/23

eForm 1 (Trust) - Tax Exempt site (They have a new eForm1 site specifically for those registering a SBR due to the pistol brace rule)
    Submitted: 1/17/23

This will take longer than normal because I am the manufacturer of the receiver, not one of their "verified manufacturers". It's an 80% AR-9 receiver that I did the finishing work on (milling out the FCG area, holes for pins, etc, etc). Let's see how long this takes. (The pic was taken before I fixed the selector and just had a basic flash hider threaded loosely to protect the threads...I'll swap it out at some point or leave it just as a loose thread protector so the can will thread on. I'm also going to swap out the trigger for a decent one. I just tossed a left-over milspec one I had laying around to get it "complete")

Note that you have to submit proof of ownership prior to 1/13/23. I submitted a PDF of the invoice from when I bought the 80% and tooling...let's see if that's sufficient. And no, they tell you what they accept as proof of ownership. Hopefully if anyone is planning on using this rule for a free tax stamp, you still have your receipt or some such.

Since there is no law requiring the keeping of ANY (non NFA) paperwork from a firearm purchase or transfer, how do they justify requiring showing proof you owned it before 2013?

It's not 2013, it's Jan 13th 2023. (Original post edited for clarity now)

The BATFE is requiring proof that you owned the (now) "SBR" in it's current configuration with the (now) naughty pistol brace if you want a free tax stamp in accordance with ATF Final Rule 2021R-08F. Otherwise you have to go through the "regular" eForm 1 process and pay your $200.
