Doesnt this happen every year? This year in particular they were working on the carbines the last few months, so I would imagine that impacted what they were doing with the Garands. Give it a week or so and you will see the regular garands back up.

Yeah, I think it just means they don't have enough cleaned up and tested to fill existing orders (=too big a backlog.) They've stated publicly approx how many are left in their inventory and they couldn't disappear that fast.

I don't know if it's every year, but I have noticed once they get to a 3 to 6 month backlog, they put up the "sold out" notices.

Then again, WTF do I know? I thought they'd at least have enough carbines to fill a few days worth of orders.

Well, good thing we are speaking to Iran again. They have close to 165,000. Mostly international harvesters.

Turkey had 300,000 and has only returned a few thousand.

    there is hope......

Meanwhile the CMP has been building both Service and Field grades from parts. Sort of like the Specials, just not as Special. They should be able to keep that up for a while.

    Two more years.

My first CMP rifle was in 2007 and it was a service grade built up out of parts. The greeks arrived three weeks later. We've been living high off the hog ever since....

    CMP shortage of garands

well remember, CMP is running short because Obama has continued to disallow importing of the 10 of thousands of Garands we (the USA) leased to Korea during the Korean war.

funny, these are exactly the type of guns the liberals would seem to support. no high capacity mag, limited to 8 rounds, not a quick reload, to big for use drive-by's, expensive ammo, too heavy and long for gang's to carry around or criminals to conceal.

Mark Johnson mentioned they were trying to get a bunch of guns from the Philippines. Should be enough for 5-6 years of sales. Apparently well stored and taken care of despite the non-ideal weather conditions there.

The CMP wouldn't get those unless the Korean's decided to give them back to the US Army and the Army declares them surplus to their needs and turns them over to the CMP. Korea wants to sell those guns to the commercial market to make some money.

When you say "liberals", I presume you mean liberal progressives (i.e., leftists, like PAA). The latter dreams of a world with perfect pink unicorns, 0 guns and to each according to his needs.

Wow and I almost did paperwork for a field grade last week. SHould have done it last month.
When they get them back in, there will be yet another rush. Hopefully those 1911s are on the way.

Just got a very interesting email from CMP:

CMP is suspending our Sales Volunteer Program until further notice. Any volunteers already on the schedule will be accommodated.

CMP posted Friday, May 13, 2016, that we are not accepting orders for RM1SPECIAL, RM1SERVICE and RM1FIELD. Any orders postmarked on or before May 16, 2016, will be accepted. We are in a backorder status for all of the rifles listed. It may take 6 months or longer to fill those orders. Once our backorder log is filled, we will open sales for these rifles again. We currently have M1D's and M1C's available for purchase and ready to ship.

Sounds like the CMP has been selling more guns than they can inspect. Worry more about them running out of Greek ammo.
