    Field grade received today

Wife received her field grade today! Remington Rand slide Ithaca frame. No rebuild marks and original refinish. Post-war barrel. Her ring was 187xx.

Kinda wish I tossed my hat in the mix for one of these. I can’t believe how nice almost every one I’ve seen is.

I recommend that if they offer another round, you sign up ASAP.

I read that the assigning of numbers was going to be "random" but it was no such thing; first come, first served, nothing random about it.

Agreed, she got a very nice one! Almost all of the recent field grades that are shipping look nicer than the service grade I received early in the 2nd round. They are sending out some keepers!

It certainly appeared random for the one I got in the first round and for the one my wife got in the second round. What proof can you offer that it isn't random?

The numbers weren't supposed to be generated until the application period was closed. Oddly enough, numbers appear to correspond closely with the date applications were received. That's not random.

My number is 291XX. Received it on Wednesday Feb 16. Service grade with Colt slide and Colt frame. Not sure about the barrel. Overall satisfied.

First round my brother and I submitted orders at the same time he got his in three months I waited over two years. Seemed pretty random to me.

OK then. Random enough. Possibly CMP revised their procedure for the second round; possibly I'm mistaken.

Sorry you had to wait. Do you like what you got?

Definitely - they only had Field and Rack grades available when my number came up and I got a Field. The frame was a 1911 not an A1 made in 1918 so conceivably it saw action in WWI (my Grandfather served), WWII (my Uncle served), Korea (my Daughter in Laws Father served), and Viet Nam (I served). To me it represents a lot of US Military history. My wife just got her 1911A1 in the second round, also a Field Grade, and it was made in 1941 so it is possible that it could have been on someones hip when Pearl Harbor was attacked. We have two grandsons who will eventually inherit some symbols of American History to go along with their CMP Garands.

I picked up my rack grade today. It’s an Ithaca with a postwar slide and barrel. It has been well used.
