Interesting they added a "range grade" with mix of modern parts
They introduced those at auction a few months ago and based on the prices, they seemed popular enough.

I’m hoping some Delta Force 1911s turn up in the Range Grades. Some of the auction ones were issued to 5th Group in the summer of 2003, which were the first 1911s hauled back out for GWOT. Others were less exciting, with the FOIA records simply pointing to Concept Evaluation Support Agency and 1033 loans.

I'm hoping to score something from the USMC shooting team but would not be upset to get a pistol from 5th group.

Just got mine in....kind of ticked. Slide is marked on the ticket as "GI repro." What the hell does that mean. Riding on a colt frame I believe 1945.

They meant replacement. It’s an Israeli made, USGI contract replacement. Those are fully heat treated, unlike the original production slides.

Do you know when that contract was active? Around what year would my slide be. I believe my barrel is IWI too

Someone just posted a pic of one on the Colt forum with that same slide and said it was a 1980's IMI contract. That seems a little late to me but can't argue against it :) Like Ken said it's a good slide.
There were still 1911 rebuild programs happening in the early 80s. I think Anniston Army Depot did their final run from 1978-1982. The USMC seems to have done theirs to a bit later since Albany and Barstow marks have turned up with slightly later years.

I don’t remember reading a definitive year for the TZ contract, but 70s-80s is what most people guess. There were other replacements contracted in the same era, like the Numax ones.

I got the call today, but missed it so I got a voicemail. Honestly I was expecting this process to take much longer and it’s not an ideal time right now for me to spend $1250. So I might pass. I’ll think it over tonight.
