Amazing the hypocrisy of fierce patriotic folks here who relish the right of the people but yet lavish over taking it away from others. Yes D.C is a mess but it’s their mess to resolve not the outliers and fake patriots.

The fact that it's been getting darker earlier certainly hasn't helped things.... but these criminals are emboldened to commit many of these carjackings in broad daylight.

DC was designed to be a Federal District. It should get back to being that.

You ask any of the "Statehood for DC" people if they'd want to vote as part of Maryland, and they'll tell you "no". That's how you know the DC Statehood movement is a total sham.

I don't think Maryland wants that headache either, D.C and its residents are hamstrung by its federal control and should have full control over their lives. Let the D.C voters decide and live with their decisions and not the decisions of outsiders.

That's exactly what Maryland would say, but it doesn't change the "Statehood for DC" hypocrisy.

DC was intended from its inception to be under federal control as a federal district. That's the whole point of it.

I would have sympathy for the DC statehood movement IF DC had been a state until recently (within a current lifetime) and its statehood was stripped away. Under this scenario folks who had their rights stripped away would have a just complaint. That's not the case here. Everyone is living in DC either by their choice, having moved in as an adult being fully aware of what they signed up for, or were born into it by their parents' choice, like French kids in France, or US kids in the US. In either case, the feds didn't pull the rug out from under you. Blame yourself or your parents. Don't like it? Leave.

    Nobody wants DC.

Even their looney MOCO Brothers and Cousins.

    Reminds me of Gaza.

    :D
    These.

Let DC deal with DC. Why would anyone in Congress want to deal with governing such a sh*tshow?

Hell, Congress already shuffles their responsibility off to the executive so they can enjoy the easy, do nothing importance they've created for themselves.

And yes, I agree from a philosophical point of view also. Let DC residents determine their own fate. If they don't like it, let them vote to give control back to Congress (assuming Congress wants it).

IMHO, Home Rule was (and is) a failed experiment.

More than we saw on the video of the Engage Armament incident? I'm generally familiar with the background of what happened there, but interested to learn more about it.

I'm referencing the Engage Armament incident because Andrew Raymond didn't appear to have a clear target he was shooting at and was shooting at the rear of a vehicle driving away from him.

I'm very curious here what was actually in the sight picture of the Secret Service agent who fired and how many shots were fire

Better put a police substation at the Bethesda stop.

    Which one?
engine 12. Seems the firefighter was able to track their stuff, cops came and the people bailed.

This murder marks the 248th homicide for the year in the district, a number we haven’t hit since 2003.

There it is.... and we've got over a month left in the year.

Not DC but the MO is SOP....

It is alleged that Orellana walked up to the woman and while attempting to exchange details, and he assaulted her before fleeing the area. He also stole money and other property from the woman, who had to be taken to the Adventist HealthCare Germantown Emergency Center for treatment of her injuries, according to the police.

The laws we currently have are made for a high-trust society which no longer exists.

Until a substantial number of people are charged and imprisoned for a long time, we will not have better safety.

It's just the way it is.
