Chaps closed?

Went by Chaps Pit Beef in Frederick last weekend and there was a closed sign on the door...anyone know if they're permanently closed?

If it's as bad as the one in Glen Burnie, it wouldn't surprise me.

BTW - the pit beef place on Vernon Ave. (Two blocks south of Chaps) has changed hands. Now called The Smoked Buffalo. Haven't been there, but reviews are mixed.

Of all the Chaps locations that was the most disappointing one.

No loss. Seemed disorganized last time I went. I go to Mission across the street.

The Aberdeen one is weird, they had a 1 gallon container of Open Pit Restaurant Recipe with the label ripped off and "House sauce" tapped on. Not sure what the subterfuge is about on super secret BBQ sauce you can order online anywhere.

Pit beef is easy to make, 8lb/$33 bottom round serves about 15-25 sandwiches for me and my ilk.

I bet it's about $30 for one of their sandwiches and rubbery fries. Want a pickle, it's $1 more. LOL

The food was so-so, staff were nice to me and it was my "1 beer" place while I waited to pick up pizza for my girls from Domino's.

I guess that it's bring my own and drink it out of a paper bag in the parking lot.
