    Hello,

I have a valid and not expired Virginia resident CHP with my Virginia Beach address. I will be changing that to Springfield when I move there in July. I plan to update my permit. I looked up the Change of Address process on the Virginia State Police website and it seems to be straight-forward and simple. Has anyone gone through this and can confirm?

VA resident permits are handled by the county circuit courts, not VSP

    just an FYI

Change of Address – Section 18.2-308.011 The clerk of a circuit court that issued a valid concealed handgun permit shall, upon presentation of the valid permit and proof of a new address of residence by the permit holder, issue a replacement permit specifying the permit holder's new address. The total amount assessed for processing a replacement permit due to a change of address shall not exceed $10, with such fees to be paid in one sum to the person who accepts the information for the replacement permit.

That's very good information that I must have overlooked or had gotten wrong. I will either have to go to my local Fairfax County station or my local Springfield PD to get this done.

This sounds a little more complicated than the non-resident though. I'll get this done soon after my move to the new location.

    Thanks for setting me straight.
