Carry a good quality hollowpoint that you've tested in your gun to confirm good operation.

The answer is "lowest bidder, or the best profit margin for some politician's buddy"

For me Federal HST or Speer Gold dots. Both are available in 50rd LEO packaging for about the same price as the 20rd retail packaging verision. Both perform well, both are used by a lot of agencies, both meet FBI specs.

Cops use full size service sidearms.

What works in theirs typically will not work in my -3.5” barrel.

The most consistent expansion across the .380 .38 and 9mm carry spectrum are Hornady FTX.

I don't personlly care what any military, LEO, or other organization uses. They all have different criteria and justifications for what they choose. I would have a lot of explaining to do in court if I had to shoot through barriers, windshields, etc so a lot of the latest and greatest designs dont really apply. The only things I care about are reliable expansion in the human body within 15yds, and reliable function with my carry gun.
