Yes, in most cases. Depends on who owns the LAND and buildings.

Probably a hard NO in Montgomery Co.

From a State law perspective, Howard County and MD State Fairgrounds are OK (not prohibited). They are both private (non-government owned) property.

I'm in western maryland, so Garrett County Fair or Alleghany County Fair. Possibly Howard County Fair if I go back that way to visit some friends. Garrett County fairgrounds is owned by an INC. but I would assume it is county owned.

I mean, I carry at the HoCo fair all the time, and I am in the office for some of that time. There is security on site, but mostly at evening/night. HCPD roams around all day. I think technically policy is no guns, but nobody will know until they need to.

Gotta say the MoCo Fair has lost all its charm for me.

    From their website:

    Prohibited Items/ Behavior
    • Possession, distribution or use of alcohol or any controlled substance
    • Possession or use of any form of weapon or object that might be used as a weapon
    • Selfie Sticks
    • Drones
    • Display of colors associated with gang activity
    • Flashing signs or shout-outs associated with gang activity
    • Loitering or gathering in groups
    • Disorderly Conduct
    • Soliciting
    • Political campaigning on the Montgomery County Fairgrounds is not permitted

That "Gathering in Groups" thing is vaguely ridiculous; and the whole affair pretty much falls under "Loitering," while "Soliciting" covers a lot of ground. As I recall, the place is filled with groups soliciting stuff. But vague rules are the order of the day in MoCo.

'Possession or use of any form of weapon or object that might be used as a weapon'

So no pencils, sticks laying on the ground, steel toed shoes, metal belt buckles on your belt, leave your martial arts training in the car?
I'm sure there are others. Where do the legislators/bureaucrats come up with the wording for these prohibitions?
Basically just say 'Please act civilized and respectful of others'.

Of course then you have 'Do not do unto others as you would that they should do unto you. Their tastes may not be the same.” G.B.S.
    I'm so confused...

When did Montgomery County buy Worcester County’s fairgrounds? :D
    LOL

Unfortunately I found my answer. They passed a resolution about ten years ago that states this along with a bunch of other things you can't do. The fair is at John Walter Smith Park, which is a WoCo park.
