Sri Srinivasan: Supreme Court justice in the making?

He's the odds-on candidate to replace Ginsburg, rumored to be retiring in 2014, but what is his stance on 2A ?

"He is attracted to persuasive arguments, regardless of their source," says Irv Gornstein, executive director of the Supreme Court Institute at Georgetown University.

Eugene Volokh (The Volokh Conspiracy), where Dave Koppel frequently comments, has nothing (yet) ...

He was NOT born in the US. For that fact alone, I feel he has no place on the Supreme Court. If that offends anyone, too bad.

"You have a majority in that court that is wreaking havoc with the country," Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said Wednesday. "For the first time in 230 years, they rule the president can't make a recess appointment. ... There is a crisis, and we need to do something about it."

What "crisis" were we really in?
The fact that the full transformation to a socialist regime is not going fast enough for them?
I seriously doubt any possible choices backed by Reid could be good choices for the 2A.

I think you would see Barack Obama at your doorstep dropping off a full auto gun of your choice before you would see him appoint a pro 2A justice to SCOTUS.

Being appointed to the DC Circuit is an honor but no guarantee of being a SCOTUS shoe in. We will have to see how he fares in this volatile Circuit. Many 2A cases have gone through here over the years. I wouldn't hold a lot of optimism for him but at the same time, feel there are plenty of other Circuit judges that would be on that "Short List" of names when the time comes to replace Ginsburg.

Don't expect a miracle with this one. Diane Sykes (CA7) ain't gonna be on any Short List with this administration. Any Ginsburg replacement will only maintain the current balance of power.

I have to agree here. It would seem the strategy is to get someone young and well-liked around the legal community who doesn't have much of a record. If he stays at the DC Circuit for a few years, his views will most likely become known and he'll face opposition.

the appointment hearings and vote are all just a massive joke. There aren't many who dont get approved.

Look at sotomayor. she lied right to the faces of everyone in that room repeatedly, avoided questions, and talked nonsense and got voted in.

You have to be a pretty big $hitbag to not get voted in.

Edit: I wish that a House committee had to approve the person, too.
