Well that would suck if you guys aren't there, hopefully it somehow works out and you can make it.

Since we bought the house (and, to some extent, started running the Delta Steel event), our shooting time has mostly dried up :(. It has been many months since I've shot anything at AGC :sad20: This event, and the GSTA shoot are a priority that I would gladly shove most other "important" obligations out of the way to attend...but some things just can't be moved :rolleye12

Adulting (and the baggage that comes with it) sucks some times.

Just signed up as well. Excited to try it out. How much ammo should we need?
Red1917 will probably reply with an exact target count (i.e. no misses). It usually is not as much as a regular 3 gun match (this old ammo ain't cheap!) I generally like to bring double that, as a safety cushion. If you are a good shot, 50% extra may get you by, but I think it is better to take some home ;)

It really sucks to run completely out of ammo while there are still targets standing. That was a mistake I made at my very first action match, and I'm not going to do it again. :o

Great question, like Art said, we're not trying to break the bank and make sure the stages are completable. Expect 40 hits for rifle and 40 for pistol for the entire match, plus some extra for saftey. Possibly an extra 5-10 for the bonus stage (still in progress).

Speaking of ammo, I will post our rules for ammo in the next post to give everyone a heads up.

    Please see rules for ammo:

    3.1 Handgun ammunition must be:
    3.1.1 Centerfire: .30 (7.62) or larger, including 7.62x25 and .30 Mauser.
    3.1.1.1 9mm to 45 ACP is recommended
3.1.2 No pistol round shall have a velocity exceeding 1500 fps.
3.1.3 No pistol round shall have a velocity below 750 fps. (Nagant and Webley Revolvers are ok)
    3.1.4 5.7x28 is specifically prohibited.
3.1.5 As mentioned in 3.3, no steel core ammo of any kind is allowed. Please check your surplus ammo beforehand.

    3.2 Rifle ammunition must be:
3.2.1 Centerfire: any caliber up to, and including, 8mm Mauser
3.2.2 No rifle round shall have a velocity exceeding 3000 fps.
    3.2.3 5.7x28 is specifically prohibited.
3.2.4 As mentioned in 3.3, no steel core ammo of any kind is allowed. This means no surplus silvertip/light ball 7.62x54r, Romanian light ball 8mm Mauser, black tip .30-06 or .308, etc.

3.3 Bimetal jacket and steel-jacketed ammunition can be used, provided it is not specifically armor-piercing (example modern Tula 7.62x54r). Ammunition containing tracer, incendiary, armor piercing, or steel/tungsten/penetrator core projectiles is prohibited. Participants will be given an opportunity to replace the prohibited ammunition with ammunition that is approved by the match and be allowed to continue to participate. If that competitor is discovered a second time utilizing prohibited ammunition, then the competitor will be disqualified from the event. Any damaged steel as a result of any use of prohibited ammunition will be replaced by the competitor found to be using the prohibited ammunition regardless of first offense or not.

3.4 For any questions related to ammunition, please contact the Match Director before the match and we will work with you to ensure you have the proper ammunition.

Any questions please email matchdirector@agcrange.org or PM me.

If you are bringing a bolt gun I'd recommend 100 rounds and youll probably use 50-60. Always bring extra and try to miss less.

For pistol id bring 3 boxes, youll maybe use 1.5 boxes or less

I'm really torn on what to shoot this year. Got one option for Manual and one for Auto in mind so far.

    What's everyone else bringing?

Im interested in this event. How many pouches/magazine carrying implements do we need, i.e. how many garand en-bloc clips and 1911 magazines/7 round cap magazines do I need to carry? Do I need a rifle sling?

Each stage will require about 8-12 hits for rifle and pistol, except the 200 yard stage which will be mostly rifle (about 12 hits) with some potential for a pistol bonus. I'd think 3-4 Garand clips and 1911 mags per stage will be plenty. Pretty rare to fire more than 15 or so rounds of pistol or rifle on a single stage.

No sling is required. We also typically make accommodations for those who don't have adequate holsters for weird old pistols.

    Enfield No.4 MKI and a Browning Hi-Power.

That'll be a great combo for manual division

Dumb question, but could we potentially attend all 3 divisions?

For now we are going to allow those who wish to shoot twice with 2 guns/divisions to sign up for a second one. Three is probably too many just because it will make squad balancing difficult but go ahead and sign up for a second one if you’d like
