building 80% pistol

If you want to build an 80% pistol, is it OK to buy the barrel and rest of parts before you finish the lower, if the only other functioning lower is part of a legally purchased HBAR rifle? technically, you would be in possession of a rifle lower with rifle stock and parts to make an SBR and do not yet have a pistol lower that works if you haven't finished the 80% lower.

As of right now, no serial number or forms are required for a AR 80% pistol build, correct? I know there are laws pending on this but forgot to listen to the MD general assembly meeting.

Will you have a pistol brace as part of that parts set? IANAL, but that would seem to demonstrate your intent to build a pistol rather than an SBR.
