    You take a whole roll of caps and one by one, fold and skewer each cap head onto the needle. Once you've done that, you wrap the 'cube' with scotch tape, leaving the two ends exposed. Very carefully, you back the needle(or pin) out of the stack. Finally, you take a final wrap of tape across the bottom of the stack, up both sides to the other open end and form a fuse with the excess tape. It was a lot of work, but in the end, you had home-made firecracker that was louder than the ubiquitous Black Cat, which we weren't allowed to have yet.

    Piece of cake. :shocked2:

    I shot a 45-70 out of a 10 inch barreled TC Contender back in the day. It was not fun.

    Our modification was to put a paper match head side in the middle of the stack. Light the other end of the match to act as a fuse. I may or may not have done this.

    I shot one also back in the 90's... holy crap, was that a handful!
    That said, I got ahold of a Taurus Raging Bull in .454 Casull last week... WOW.
