What are the advantages and disadvantages of each?

I know the pellet pistols have rifled barrels, but why do BB pistols even exist unless there were some advantages?

As someone who has both BB and pellet guns (target shooting in the backyard:D), here is a brief rundown:

    Pellets:
Can be used for hunting small game
Are more accurate (better ballistics and rifled barrels)
Typically, lower ammo capacity and higher velocity than BB guns

    BBs:
More often semi-auto than pellet guns
    Less variety of ammo
    Cheaper to start with
    Higher ammo capacity
    Lower velocity/accuracy

That could solve my rat problem. Wonder if it would set off the gunshot detectors in the neighborhood?

BB's will feed from a built in hopper, pellets need a mag to keep them oriented. BB's also tend to be cheaper. For hunting and precision pellets are toe way to go. I also avoid bb's in my rifled barrels.
