...and I was gonna say, the wind won't be a factor at sunset. It's a perfect deer slaying evening.
Holy hell. Yeah, moved spots. Wind was perfect. Blowing in my face. Saw a 6 pointer and some does upwind. They were about 175 yards away with about an hour of shooting light left. I was hoping that I was about to use my bonus tag. My max is 60. They stopped and disappeared at about 75. I think the wind briefly shifted. Damnit. It was exciting, though!Check your terrain. Are you in a bad spot? One that causes the wind to swirl? I'm looking at my radar and it's showing a very consistent NW wind.
Which one? I'll have to assume it isn't a Ravin or Tenpoint, since 125 yards is supposedly a chip shot for those bows...I was out this morning, saw 4 deer 125 yards away. Haven't bow hunted since I was 14. I can see why yall are into bow hunting. Exciting hoping one gets close. My new (used) crossbow is a hoot.
You would be amazed with the trijicon crossbow acog sight.Which one? I'll have to assume it isn't a Ravin or Tenpoint, since 125 yards is supposedly a chip shot for those bows...
Its a ten point wicket ridge Warrior. The scope that came with it zeros out to be 2" high at 20 yards, dead on at 30 yards, 4" low at 40 yards and 8" low at 50 yards. But it does shoot good groups. I was just figuring holding to 40 yards max.Which one? I'll have to assume it isn't a Ravin or Tenpoint, since 125 yards is supposedly a chip shot for those bows...
I just rezero'd the scope that came with my bow to 40 yards to squeeze out some more distance. I need a better scope, but I got the bow on clearance for 75 big ones at Walmart. Would be goofy to buy a new one.Edit: that is using the drop comp lines in the scope
When bow hunting, always aim for the heart. That way, if they "jump" the string, you'll usually end up with a lung shot(and hopefully a double lung shot).
This 100%....It really gets at me when I can't locate em. Luckily I've only had two in the last few years I couldn't find but it sucks big time. I try to be very ethical and will not pull the trigger unless I'm 90% sure it's gonna be a kill. I'm not into crippling any animals. I love to hunt but I'm a softy for animals too. I'm the last guy who wants them sufferingI'll take a clean miss over a bad hit any day of the week.
